I ran across this fascinating old Penthouse interview with one of the Church of Scientology leader's sons. He knew his father as a weirdo lsd-using coat-hanger-abortionist before he hit it big - and then after he set up his church he joined, believed, and then saw the light and escaped. Weird stuff.

Where do you find stuff like that ??
It looks like scientology is just like any other religion MIND CONTROL * but they go about acheiving it in a more physical way .
amounst its list of * believers it includes john travolta , tom cruise and both tom cruises ex wifes .
They seem to be able to hang on to people and ruthlessly exploit them. A former colleague's son, daughter-in -law and young granddaughter, were there, the guy worked seven twelve hour days a week in the bakery, and insisted that it was the right thing to do. My colleague couldn't persuade them even to take a vacation.
It's funny that you should post about scientology. I was watching an episode of Southpark last week and they were basically ripping the you-know-what out of scientology, Tom Cruise and John Travolta.
Now I know that Southpark isn't everyone's cup of tea but they did a great sequence where it was explained what Hubbard's belief was ( ie as in alien souls kidnapped and cast down into a volcano and manifesting themselves into human bodies and blah blah blah etc...) and I thought they made it up..... and at the bottom of the page they said that it was what they actually believe.... grin which at first to me was hilarious, then I realised........It's what they believe..... shock
I was going to post about this so I'm glad that Monsieur Bungle started the thread.
If you don't like Tom Cruise, John Travolta, or scientology then you might like that particular episode of Southpark, because it is a clever swipe at scientology, but if you do like all the above....... then err...you might want to stay way wink
I think everyone are entitled to their own beliefs but it seems to me like it's handled more like a scam.
That South Park episode was hilarious. They had to add the disclaimer on this one because they already ridiculed Catholicism with the big spider and whatever the heck else they could think of for false idols, and this story seemed just as outrageous until they said it was true!

I personally have no time for scientology but to my mind what they believe *aliens etc * is no more hilarious then the christian idea of a guy who vanished from the earth in a pile of smoke after being dead for a few days and invisable angels with wings flying around to protect or souls from the horned beast called the devil .

a guy who vanished from the earth in a pile of smoke after being dead for a few days
I think that was my grandfather being cremated mate.
/come to think of it he had a beard too.
It is very comforting when you realize that GOD is an equal opportunity employer when it comes to selecting his spokesmen.
It is very comforting when you realize that GOD is an equal opportunity employer when it comes to selecting his spokesmen.
Wouldn't equal opportunity equal spokespersons?
/wonders why God only speaks to men
I believe the correct nomenclature is "spokespastafarian."

I'm not too wrapped up in this PC nonsense but there is a generic meaning of "men" like "all men" or everyone. I have not heard anyone claim that "All MEN are created equal" excludes women. Persons is good if thats what you use but i'll stick to my "men"
Should we then call a *manhole * a personhole *manchester* personchester *mansion *a personsion and mannequin a personnequin ??
Should we then call a *manhole * a personhole
That sounds vaguely ...medical, ewwww
*manchester* personchester
I'd call it a craphole
*mansion *a personsion
Big House
and mannequin a personnequin ??
Just stick with dummy for that one.
And speaking of South Park -
