I was looking at pianos the other day and found the perfect place for my prohibition tipple - a prohibition piano! It was actually custom built during prohibition and actually had room in the legs to hide the bottles! Unfortunately the owner wouldn't entertain selling it though.

It did give me some ideas, and since new hubby is a cabinet maker, i reckon we'd be OK if prohibition was re-introduced. twisted
If it happened we would get the mob back here running the stills in no time .

kennedy would have something to do with his time .
lol Rudes bootleggers could be called the britnet mob. Never get between an english person and their beer or spill it lol.
You'd have to reinstate the 18th ammendment to the constitution or repeal the 21st. Either way not likely to happen.

As spelled out in Article V, the Constitution can be amended in one of two ways. First, amendment can take place by a vote of two-thirds of both the House of Representatives and the Senate followed by a ratification of three-fourths of the various state legislatures (ratification by thirty-eight states would be required to ratify an amendment today). This first method of amendment is the only one used to date. Second, the Constitution might be amended by a Convention called for this purpose by two-thirds of the state legislatures, if the Convention's proposed amendments are later ratified by three-fourths of the state legislatures.

But I'd probably stay. I have a cellar that would be the perfect place for a still.
That's true but at least individual cities have the right to go dry, for what that is worth. Would not achieve anything unless all the cities in an area were dry also.

About a year ago, Oregon's last dry town got alcohol back. Not sure if anyone really noticed as the neighbouring towns were just a short drive away and had plenty to spare.
I'd love it. I could bootleg from Canada (which is what happenned here during the original one).

Actually the attitude to alcohol here is a lot more puritan here in any case than most of the U.S. Buying alcohol here mostly means a trip to the government liquor store and you're not allowed to drink in a public place IE only on licensed premises like bars/patios/beer gardens etc. or your home. Bars can get their licenses suspended very quickly for liquor law violations or fights.

At first I thought a lot of this was completely silly, but now I find myself reluctantly approving of it, considering how many British town centres have been made miserable by scenes of public drinking/urinating/fighting etc.

Oregon is like that - can only buy hard booze at State licensed stores. I liked it when we were in Arizona in the summer and you could buy anything at the local supermarket. I did not see any retirees publicly drinking/urinating or fighting etc. at Sun City West.

I'd either be out of here or with Vegas and Bungle.

You can be Sally Field to my Burt Reynolds and Bungle's Jerry Reed any time.

You could be playing a very different role of Burt Reynolds in The Longest Yard (The Mean Machine) in prison

public drunkeness is apparant wether there are strict licensing laws or not.

In states i have lived in Va being one of them you can only buy hard booze from a state licenced store .
In Navada you can drink as you please and i didnt see anymore drunks there than in Va or Texas .

This town was dry like a lot of little towns in Texas until we rescued it from the clutches of the ( save our souls baptists ).
With new folks at the wheel we recinded the no alcohol laws and now we ahve a thriving liquor store and a few licenced restuarants bringing money (thou taxes )into the town coffers .

everybody wins ...

Shame really, that would have been very funny.

I'd like to see a drunken fight between Keith and JohnA. Although I haven't seen a picture of Keith (he might be a big tough bastard) I'd have to give the edge to JohnA.

I think the urination contest would much harder to call.

For the urination contest... JohnA. No doubt about it.
