I go out at 6am every Black Friday. I'm done Christmas shopping by 8am. Anyone else crazy like me? shock
No, we're British P
well I might be British, but I go out with my daughter just to watch all the silly idiots fighting over the items that have been advertised at really special prices.

Everyone goes mad when they find there's only ten of the item in the store. I've seen clerks knocked into big cardboard boxes, a woman knocked through a glass showcase.

Savages the lot of them, I usually sit down on a shelf and pretend to be a manequin, gives people something to laugh at. And you need a laugh if you are silly enough to go out in that crowd. wink razz twisted
No way but I might be one of the mad buggers on Tuesday, trying to get an XBox 360 in the small hours.
Hell Yes! mrgreen

I only do it if there is something worth going for. The first year I did it I wanted to see just what it was like and couldn't believe my eyes. The amount of stuff people were buying was just crazy! Never saw any pushing and nasty behavior, though.

There are sometimes it really is worth the effort - like some of the tv's and dvd offers. Got a couple of packs of blank cd's one year totally free. No mail-in rebates either, just free with the in-shop rebates.

Didn't go last year and won't be going this year because we are busy somewhere else wink
Whats black Friday then?

The day after Thanksgiving that officially starts the Christmas shopping season here. There are usually big sales involving a few teaser items and a feeding frenzy ensues. You have to get there When well before the store opens to even have a shot at most of this stuff.

I boycott the shops on the day after Thanksgiving. This is meant to be a holiday to be with friends and family so what about the poor people who work in retail? They usually have to work late on the day before Thanksgiving and then they are straight back on the day after, not much of a holiday for them and most of them aren't paid much more than minimum wage either.

Surely the population of America can survive 2 days with all the stores closing?
It's called "Black" Friday because this is the first day in the year when retailers have traditionally shown a profit ergo they are "In the Black"

Debs x smile
Not a chance in hell would you find me up at that time of day with those kinds of crowds just to save a few bucks.

Around here items that do the releases such as xbox360 rarely sell out on the first day so no panic shopping for them either.

It's a Steely Dan song, innit?

I shop online. I don't like mixing with the Americn public at the best of times, let alone when they are at there worse. I would definitely pay a lot more for an item, and I have, not to have deal with those idiots.
I went out fairly early last year (7 ish?) just to see what it was all about and see if I could snag a bargain Digital Camera as a present for my mum. It really was quite an experience seeing those people in a shopping frenzy, just stuffing their carts with things that weren't even discounted.

Walmart was the worst, I saw at least two avalnches of carts piled so high they defied gravity, and then there was an hours queue at lay away of people putting by all this stuff they couldnt pay for roll

I did get a good deal on the camera, free extra capacity memory cartridge, but only on Sunday as part of the extended TXG sale.
Wal-Mart are aiming to make a billion dollars between Black Friday and the end of the year so if you want to stick it to them this year, give them a miss until next year - or forever wink
