So my wife just came home with a dog. It's a cross between a Cocker Spaniel and a Poodle. It's called a Cockapoo. No, I swear it is! It's 13 weeks old and a male dog. Anyhoo, our last dog was named Blix (after the mighty Hans) and she asked me for a name. All I could think of was Mohammed ElBaradei. She said no. Her names have been (ahem) Bauldrick, Lester and Couche Tard. Seriously. Lester is out because our neighbor will be naming there daughter Esther when it is born in 2 months. Couche Tard, as beautiful a name as it is, was something my wife saw on sign posts in Quebec. And is what she calls me when i'm being a spanner. Baldrick is ok.

So, I want your best names for a (cough) Cockapoo.
Oh you lucky person. I'm still having "missing Jack" issues...

Let's see a picture! It's easier to maybe conjure up a name if you have an image. It's like Emily named Jack within five minutes of us deciding we were going to keep him after finding him.

I so miss him. So pleased for you too. Dogs are so cool (as are cats but in a different way)

Andrew )
Me -I'm a cat dude. My two cats rock. I'll have to get used to the dog.
Call it Bollix.

/who wouldn't love being able to shout Bollix in the park?
//prefers cats though
I like them both, cats and dogs and they live well together too. Jack was a doll and quite possibly the coolest dog ever in the whole universe (okay so I am biased)...

Got a picture Mr B?

Andrew )
Deefer . . .my bro has a cat called Ceefer, another called Noname mrgreen
Couldn't offer a name without seeing him
My cat is called Cocoa but I didn't pick it. I was going to call her Friio (after Frenchman David Friio who was a really good midfielder for Plymouth Argyle but then went pants and got sold to Forest).

Otherwise, she was going to be called Atilla. I usually go for the Generals theme with pets.

That name is the mutt's nuts. 8)

A photo would help -or at least a colour, but in the meanwhile how about...

Blair -in honour of Bush's poodle who cocked it up

Noodle the cockapoodle -in homage to the flying spaghetti monster.....

Spandle -just to be awkward (how much better would that combination have been for the breed name? Someone must have asked Barbara Cartland's advice when trying to decide between the two possibilities roll)
Bollix would provide endless amusement as few people would know what it means.

Slightly disparaging towards the dog though.

We once had a beagle called Geordie. Even though it wasn't one it was a great name.
Give it a human name like Steve, Nick, Mike or Roger for example.

Ok I don't have a digital camera (you philistine!) so you'll have to bear with me. I'll either post a scanned real pic or get my mother in law to photo it today. But this seems to be pretty close.

Not that it looks like that - you know how dog faces are unique right? Anyhoo - it's basically the same color which is sort of cream all over and cinnamon ears and feet - like a cup of cafe latte. Or something.

And the wife looked at me after I've suggested bollix. She said "why don't we just go haed and call it todger." When I agreed she looked at me again.
