Well What did you all think of her? As a woman, and without comparing her to Diana, which would be totally unfair, I thought she looked terrible!! They called her"Frump Tower" and I'm not suprised. Surely they have advisors at the palace who can help her change her appearance a little? Her hair style is from the dark ages (in fact I think I used to have mine like that - 30 years ago!) She looked like an intimidated little mouse, following Charles around. Now I realise that it's probably etiquette that she walks 5 paces behind him or something, but it just looked ridiculous. She has a fear of flying and when they got off the plane, coming down the steps, you could see she was a little disorientated. Carles looked round at her, but there was no taking her arm like a (British?) gentleman would. I think it would do a lot for her if she just learned a little posture, shoulders back and how to WALK - she reminded me of how Fergie used to lumber along. This all sounds very unkind and I don't mean it that way, but really, they ARE representing our country..........Snobby me again. Sorry !!
Just looks like a normal "in her fifties" kind of woman to me. Which is nice roll
For goodness sake leave the poor woman alone!

Firstly, you seem to have dived into the shallow pool of "it's only looks that count" that is so prevelant in the media - she is who she is. She is not pretending to be someone she isn't just for the likes of you. She obviously likes her hair the way it is, doesn't want a facelift, nor her teeth whitened. She is a horsey woman. She is thoroughly English. If she was looking like Joan COllins it would be ridiculous.

Secondly, I have never seen Charles be AS attentive, or relaxed or happy as he is now that he is married to Camilla. She can hold her own in this situation. He may not have held her arm when you thought he should, but that doesn't mean he doesn't care about her.

You are very shallow-minded to even repeat the Frump Tower reference. I wonder what they'd call you. Or me. Or any other poor unfortunate who was being compared with a Barbie doll.

mad

*edited to say that I should have just said what Cel said. lol

Amen to that. And stop comparing her to Di. If she's happy and he's happy I'm happy.

They don't represent me. I could care less about what they say or do. Do you pay attention to posture and dress every day? You're just as much a representative of your country as Chuck and Cam are.

I am not a supporter of Royalty, I hated the whole class system based family background, whether one can trace ones lineage to a Norwegian brigand who attacked from Normandy. Given that, I can sympathise with individuals caught up in it. I would hate to have every move watched , and every word, criticised by by people who wouldn't offer a kind word even if they could. For all the gaffs that Charles has made, I don't think any have disparaged the "lower classes".

There is such a thing as reverse snobbery.

That was the first thing that struck me was how happy Charles looks. He doesn't have that long miserable face look anymore. I actually think the man looks 10 years younger than he has looked in a long time.

If the nasty comments about her looks come from the American Press then up theirs! She is not American, she is British and proud of the fact that she doesn't have to have plastic surgery to catch the man of her dreams  She is also very content and happy in herself - a shame more women can't be the same way.

If the nasty comments are coming from the British Press - then I am disgusted. Haven't they learnt their lesson yet. And I hope Charles doesn't ignore the comments about his wife this time.

To see a couple so happy and radiant, I can't help but wish them all the happiness in the world. :)

If you put Camilla and Diana side by side Camilla would look much better.

But then Di's been dead for years.
Every newspaper and TV report on the subject has annoyed me.

"Of course, Camilla is overshadowed by the previous royal visit in 1985 when Diana visited" they say. Then they give far more footage of that trip than they do of the current one. Well, of course it's going to look like it's overshadowed if you keep showing pictures of a dead woman from 20 years ago.

Lets remember Diana was sticking her fingers down her throat to look like that.

Lets remember the neither party in that marriage was happy.

Lets remember that Diana at 58 wouldn't look as glamourous either.

Finally, though I don't care much for royalty, I'm glad that Charles and Camilla are happy, and that the kids seem happy their father married the woman he loved.
They were mentioned in a segment on this morning's local news, about their tour, etc. and some Brits were interviewed in some Irish pub in SF.

One gal said she liked C & C and then this twit of an Irishman piped up that he thought they 'should go back to their own country.' Right pi$$ed me off, he did. He himself is not in his 'own country' i.e. meaning he is 'foreign' born himself! And he got air time. Dumb tv for showing his ignorant coment.

I like the Royals for the most part. I like Charles the best. Seems like a genuinely nice guy who likes nothing better than to potter around in his vegetable garden and other things that quiet people like to do. They're good for England and no other country has an equivalent of a royal family that the rest of the world is so interested in or could give a damn about.

I think Camilla looks great, her hair is natural looking, no plastic sugery to make her look like she is 20 and she keeps a trim figure. I though she looked lovely on her wedding day, too.
I think she looks fine for her age. Without putting her fingers down her throat she's managing to stay slim, which with the osteoporosis running rampant in her family is a very good thing. I was well pleased with her wee speech about osteoporosis, the fact the it affects every other woman in Britain over the age of 50( ithink it was 50) and gets one in five men. The fact that not enough research is done and no cure has been found. She brought attention to a disease that's often overlooked and I thought she spoke well, gaining confidence as she got into her stride.
To expect her to look like a film star or celebrity kind of misses the point. She's a royal, not  star. Her work is not looking good. It's making her hubby happy and bringing certain causes to peoples attention. Using her fame in a good way. Not like several celebrities over here who wouldn't do charity concerts unless their $15k appearance fee was met.
I'm also well pleased with Charles at the mo. He's taken up Biodynamic gardening, Maria Thun and co, and this pleases me no end.
Still, I suppose some people do want her to look like one of those wind up dollies in a big puffy skirted dress and a tiara all the time. Get over it, you'll find Camilla in the stables. She's a real woman in her late fifties, not a sillicone play thing. Really, get a life roll

edited to add, LondonSq., I was brought up to believe that snobbery always begins at the bottom. mrgreen
I think your responses to my opinion are over the top to say the least! Nobody said anything about face lifts, plastic surgery or Barbie dolls! That Charles is much happier than ever before? That's great! That wasn't what I was talking about. After all, Camilla has wanted to be with Charles for a long time, I just think that she could have been more prepared for the job, and could have given a better impression. This is my opinion (SHALLOW minded) or not !

I really don't understand what you mean then.

She is obviously comfortable with how she looks. So what if her her hairstyle is not up to date, maybe a familiar style that she feels suits her is all she needs (I'll go along with that one!) She dresses smartly and age appropriate, I think she looks pretty dignified actually. So why does she give a bad impression???? Better than "mutton dressed up as lamb" I think

Unless you were some kind of inbred psychologically disturbed upper class twit, I mean you wouldn't would you?
