We're thinking of showing a pirate movie as part of Hebe's Pirate themed birthday party this year, but she is turning 8, Pirates of the Caribbean is a PG13 and most of her guests will be ages 8-10. So we need a recommendation for a good movie that will keep kids entertained even if they have seen it before, and which is not PG13. our best suggestion so far is Hook. We were wondering if there were any older movies that they may not yet have seen, but which are not too dated?
How about this one, haven't seen it but its Disney, you cant go wrong

Make sure you show some Spongebob too!!! grin It's not pirates but it's vaguely nautical - well underwater anyway - and I know Hebe likes it. grin wink
Treasure planet is an excellent movie and has probably been out long enough that some kids who went to see it will enjoy seeing it again.
Treasure Island has a boy hero, and of course, Robert Newton is the best pirate ever, as Long John Silver.
Another good old one was The Crimson Pirate, with Burt Lancaster and Nick Cravat when they were still great trapeze artists. Lots of aerial work.
Errol Flynn and Douglas Fairbanks Jr. Try "Sinbad" with the awesome fighting skeletons, or Muppet Treasure Island.
/loads of safe pirate movies
What about Sinbad Legend of the Seven Seas? It's animated and is supposed to be good, although I haven't seen it.
Thanks, I'll look into those. I knew you lot'd know!
(Pirate movies were too scary for me! lol)
How could no-one have mentioned the excellent Muppet's Treasure Island lol
(Seriously, its really good!)
I think VRB did up a few postings
"Jim's got cabin fever.........etc." razz
razz
Must pay more attention.
Monster...how about 'walking with penguins'? It kind of has a nautical theme to it mrgreen
