Hello Chaps,
I'm about to leave the Uk for the US on an H1B. Whilst keeping a house in the UK to rent out, I was hoping to buy property in the US. Is the permitted under H1B.
I actually worked on an H1B for a couple of years in the US, but returned to the Uk. I'm now heading back. I still have a US bank account which should help with mortgages.
Any advice would be greater appreciated.
Thanks,
Paul
I got one whilst on a H1B, but then I had a citizen as the co-signer. Where will you be moving to, because if it's the east coast I can find someone to give you a certain answer?
Stel.
The answer is yes, but not all banks will provide it.
You have to state that you are a non-permanent resident on your application.
I got my mortgage on a F1 student visa, and now I am on a H1-B.
PM me if you want more details.
Michelle
Hi,
Thanks for the advice so far.
Am heading for Seattle hopefully, for a second time. Was hoping to buy a house this time, but I will only be a on a H1B. So, if the proverbial happens, and I have a nice house somewhere and I get layed off, what's the best thing to do ? What happens if I can't sell before I get thrown out the country ? Can I delay being thrown out the country ?
Paul
I bought a house whilst on an H1B visa without any problems, but did take with me credit references from the UK to support my application.
Also sold the house while not in the US working anymore, was just a little more tricky liaising with the realtor nothing more than that.
I bought a house on an H1-B (still have an H1-B)
No special references, No citizen co signer BUT I had been in the USA about a year and a half and had built up excellent an excellent credit rating. If you've had a US bank account for a while that should help. Any questons just ask.
