Went to the periodontics office this morning for my planned implant surgery.
8.45am appt . . at 9.30, the poor Dr was still trying to pull of my bridge shock . He then dissapeared and returned 5 mins later with his plan. With my meds in and fully 'numbed' mouth, I drove back to my dentists office where he tapped off the bridge in one easy pop.
Back on the freeway to my periodentist, who then proceeded to give me more injections and drill a hole in my head.
Hope your day was better mrgreen
Gawd, you're so much braver than me. They offered me deep cleaning last time I went in, thinking I had a wisdom tooth problem, and I still haven't gone in for that. Bloody hell, I know it looks nice and all, but I just never got into the beauty is pain thing. All i want is for them to work. Color isn't that important.
Oh, and get your hands off Darths meds. Poor boy needs them/ Stick to the G&T. wink
Sounds like a grand production! I hope it was worth it. )
Well KG I think it was worth it as its not fun having all your teeth fall out . . I'm having enough trouble keeping my hair on
OUCH - sounds painful. shock
I hope you got a discounted price?
Annie, a deep cleaning isn't about getting whiter teeth, it's scraping below the gumline. Often quite uncomfortable - painful procedure but prevents gum disease.
Oh, MMM, you're brave! o I hope you have a painfree day today. smile

I know Wendl, I know, but I read the word dentist and kind of stopped there. Cowardly regards,
There are many kind and gentle dentists around now.
A dentists office is barely recognizable from the ones we went to as kids. They were torture chambers of the lowest standards. smile
Tha last but one time I went to the dentist in the UK I was having my bottom back left teeth pulled. He tugged so hard he was pulling my jaw across my face. When I put my hand up to point this out he put his knee in my chest and gave it an extra silly tug. Out it came. "Oh it's snapped" he said. He went and got the rest out. When the meds wore off it hurt so badly. Then I got dry socket, which I think is worse.
I used to hate the dentist. The one I have here is fantastic.
I do hope your ok MMM. Sounds dramatic!
My dentist is ok - he's competent but is in and out as rapidly as possible so there's not really much interaction.
My hygenist on the other hand is brilliant- very personable, chats the whole time and does an excellent job at the same time. If he lived a bit nearer to me, we'd probably be pretty good friends as we share the same sense of humor, dislike the same things in American society and generally run riot every time I go to see him. I wonder why he stays at that practise as they are very conservative/overtly Christian and he and I are neither. I can only guess they pay him very well and he's very popular.
MMM, you have my sympathy, I have a mouth full of caps and bridges. It is almost surreal to have them trying to get a decent whack at a bridge in the confined space of a mouth. I haven't had an implant as such but one of the anchor teeth for a bridge had to be rebuilt around a tiny stainless steel reinforcing bar.
I know it will wake the nerves up for a while , but I hope it doesn't hurt.

Annie - if you ever went to Dr Birkett in Bacup, no wonder you have dental fears! He was the only dentist I ever met with bad breath and a reputation for drilling through tongues!
Mel
Hope you're feeling better today MMM. Thinking about you here.

This is why I lie back in the chair and grab the dentist's naddage. First twinge of pain, we both feel it.
