.............or French Doors as they call them here. Can anyone recommend a brand of VINYL French Doors - as opposed to wood or fibreglass. Similarly if you know of any brands which are not very good, let me know.

We are having Harvey windows installed but would like French Doors too - unfortunately they only make sliding doors, not French ones. We have been recommended Therma-Tru but they are not vinyl - therefore they need to be stained or painted.

Thank you.
Anderson and Pella are both good brands. You'd have to check for your particular needs.

EDIT out of interest, I looked at their sites, and i couldn't find any trace of vinyl. I know they used to do them. Sorrry if this is a bum steer.
Let me ask here - all the rooms have french doors and I'm pretty sure they're vinyl.

/except my room. I don't even have a window.

We're about to get a Pella french door installed, vinyl, no painting required!
Is it an interior or exterior door, Lizzi?

Thanks for the help - I had not been able to find anything on Pella or Andersen's websites.

Exterior. We went into Lowes, they have all the brochures and afew samples in there.

We've just put French (or freedom! wink ) doors from our dining room onto our deck. Home Depot's best...part vinyl....part steel in a wood frame. Cost - MRP - just shy of $400 but we noticed two weeny ikkle dings and got $100 off!!!!! lol

Thank you! That's very helpful. )
Uncannily enough we just had Pella out at our place on Monday past there to measure up for some new windows quotes.

They want almost $3200 just to replace three windows.

Then I got to thinking what we could do with $3200 INSIDE the house......and started wondering if our "idea" was such a great one.

EDIT - BTW - don't get aluminum or vinyl windows if you're at all interesetd in soundproofing.  If you ARE interested in soundproofing - it'll have to be wood.

We are paying 3k for 6 Pella windows and a french door shock (by vinyl not wood)

Did the labor they quoted you cost as much as the goods? Cause we were paying more for labor that the PARTS costed.....but I guess that's normal.

That still doesn't seem to equate!  We got quoted almost $3200 for two small bedrooms windows and one large fiberglass breakfast window (not THAT large - just kinda square!).  We ALSO got told that they couldn't cater to our skylight needs - as our skylight is square and Pella only do rectangular ones!!!!!  WTF????

Why are Pella so much more expensive in Oklahoma, then?  Guess I should be surprised.......

Lizzi, is that installed with labour?
Yes it is. But Pella does a range of windows and their website shows different ones to the Lowes offerings, which I guess come out more pricey. We are having vinyl ones, the french windows are abit posher though.
