Q Magazine (which is poo) just compiled a list of the 25 most pathetic rock stars ever. I didn't bother getting a link yet but here it is-

25 brandon flowers
24 roger daltrey
23 lars ulrich
22 kasabian
21 bryan ferry
20 beck
19 andrew fletcher
18 angus young
17 mike mills
16 nick cave
15 danny mcnamara
14 mick mars
13 dave rowntree
12 moby
11 nicky wire
10 britney spears
9 linkin park
8 ronan keating
7 chris martin
6 morrissey
5 paul heaton
4 brian may
3 dido
2 sir cliff richard
1 lou reed

Seems like a decent list but I dunno why Lou Reed is number one - they must know something I don't. And Britney isn't rock. Morrissey is a strange lad but most pathetic - I dunno. It'd have been a fight between Moby and Chris Martin for modern spanners for me. Would you add anyone to this? Anyone here that doesn't deserve it?
That Pete Best bloke, the drummer who was dropped from The Beatles but seems to have made a career out of self-piteous documentaries in which he keeps inflicting his substandard pub rock on an unsuspecting world.

Yes reunions or their various incarnations. Or Wakeman/Squires/Dobbin and Squelch or whatever they're calling themselves these days. UGH!

Roger Waters. Not content with destroying Pink Floyd. The egotistical former singer and guitarist occasionally inflicts self-indulgent, primal scream w*nk rock solo albums on us. Was largely responsible for 'The Wall' where you could hear his rampant, whining ego getting more and more out of control.

Pete Burns of 'You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)' fame. Has now had so much plastic surgery he looks like a pouty troll with pubic hair on its head. Makes Leslie Ash look normal.

Roger Daltrey and The Who certainly deserved inclusion on this list. Despite two dead members they still periodically have their bi-annual "last ever tour" like the shameless tarts they are. They actually haven't put out anything decent since Keith Moon died.

Joe Cocker. Let's face it, in the Woodstock era he put out an interesting cover version where he growled and wailed his way through a well-known Beatles record. He hasn't done anything as remotely interesting since and whereas he once looked like a wild red-haired young rocker, he's now a bow-legged old baldy still doing the tour circuit. He's never written a decent song of his own and his popularity continues to be a complete mystery to me.

Billy Idol. Did we really need this comeback? Does he really have to pretend he's still 30? YECCH!

There's a few of mine anyway.........
Where's Gary Glitter?

Convicted kiddy fiddler in a wig and spangly suit surely merits a ranking.
They missed out johnny rotton and all those punks .

whitney houston needs a place near the top .
some of the names are not * ROCK STARS * sir cliff richard , britney spears to name a few the list is BOGUS

Saw him live in concert a few years ago he still had the same *magic *his phrasing does it . he had in the 70 s . matter of taste I suppose

differant strokes .

Think you'll find Whitney Houston isn't a "rock star" either John.

I agree with you about punks only in terms of the Sex Pistols going on their totally pathetic "filthy lucre" tour. But if you think so little of punk John whu did you put up a post about John Peel, who championed that music more than anyone else? At least punk generally burnt out fairly quickly like a bright shiny star, rather than continue with endless concept albums like so many velvet-clad twits before them.

Joe Cocker is only my opinion. These sort of lists are all totally subjective.
What about Limp Biskit? Sad or what.
I've actually met like 6 people on that list.

/totally bemused why Brandon's up there
I'd have to add a few others to that list.

Marilyn Manson - Manson is a third-rate Alice Cooper clone who desperately wants little girls to believe he's scary. The man is an arse. And I say this as someone who once dated a huge Manson fan and bored me to tears with his horrible music.

Danni filth (of Cradle of filth) - I met Danni Filth in a pub in Birmingham and I already thought he was a giant tosspot. After ten minutes of him being there he started using a funny "I'm possessed....honest" voice that made me eager to hit him. And anyone who uses phrases like "rotting circumference" should be pelted with fish.

Courtney Love - hanger on extraordinaire. She really thought she was a cross between Nancy Spungen and Kim Deal. Which in a way she was but without any of Deal's musical talent. It's also sad that she would enjoy being on a list like this. (Speaking of Spungen, Sid Vicious was an utter penis as well.)

Eddie Vedder - I have spent alot of money over the last 13 years on Pearl Jam music. I once paid far too much for a supposedly limited Japanese vinyl featuring, of all people, Dennis Rodman on drums. I still love the music, but Vedder has always been a turnip. He spent the first 5 years of Pearl Jam promising to top himself (you could tell he was sincere by the fact he furrowed his brow and tried to look troubled) and has always annoyed me every time he opened his gob and didn't sing.

Liam Gallagher - nob. That seems sufficient.

I'd also add Jack White (White Stripes) and Ryan Adams. White seems to revel in being annoying. I like alot of his stuff but the new record is really awful. As for Adams I am like a teenage fan-boy as far as his music goes - I love every inch of it. But by God he's an arrogant arse. I've been to see him twice and both times he stormed off in a huff (he did come back though).
How about,

Angry Anderson - Pint sized hard man lead singer of Rose Tattoo who came out with the love song from Neighbours.

Dead - lead singer of Norwegian band Mayhem (I probably don't need to add that they were a Death Metal band). He blew his brains out with a shotgun in a hissy fit and his mates tasted his brain before phoning the police.

David Lee Roth - what was he all about?

Keith "firestarter" Flint - ditto

I'm not sure I agree with the Roger Daltry and Nick Cave entries, I thought they were pretty cool. I suppose its not Rock n' Roll to own a trout farm.

I wonder if the editors were umming and ahhing about putting Kurt Cobain in the list. Musically brilliant in my opinion, but continually acted like a moody school girl.
Seems like a decent list but I dunno why Lou Reed is number one - they must know something I don't.
..er..perhaps it was his recent attempt to turn E A Poes The Raven into some sort of a musical album..or maybe, Hell, He's not done anything of any consequence since Transformer..Metal machine music for all of its genius was a happy accident and seemed to have as much to say as any of his other albums up to that point. Even then you'd be forgiven for turning it off, no, wrenching it from the turntable and throwing it out of the window, com[plement one artistic statement with another. Then listen to the Marble Index by nico. Maybe it was Magic and loss that really did it ffor me - Lou, learn the goddamn songs if you're going to perform them infront of people, and don't, for chrissakes have somebody turn the pages...but then i could be wrong. He may just be a living genius, or legend. I can never work that one out.
Fine Fine Music?
Just read today the the old kiddie porn king is in the run/gone into hiding for having a few of his 15 yr old buddies over shock
what about that drummer from Survivor, he was a bit dodgy. I remember him in the videos, he was the one who looked like he really wanted to be somewhere else..
I don't think pathetic is a good word to describe them. Dreary perhaps? That describes afew of them. Linkin Park rock pretty darn good imo. I like Dave Lee Roth, he was a showman, of his time. Gary Glitter, pre his time in the nick, was a great entertainer. Agree about Marilyn Manson, he's just plain dodgy.
How about all the Guns and Roses "members"?

And, any white so-called 'musician' from the USA.
