What decorations and/or costumes or themes do you put up at your house for Halloween.

We have decided to decorate the house a little bit this year and we are looking for ideas, as we haven't been living here for a few years so we thought it was a good way to meet some of our neighbours and fit in to the community.

All ideas and suggestions appreciated.

How did you make your tombstones? Or did you buy them? We just bought a fog machine. glow in the dark bag of bones and a haunted sound effects cd, so a grave yeard in my front borders would be a great idea...

yeah, me too!

We bought some at 90% off the year before, then made some out of styrofoam/polystyrene daubed with marbled poster paint and attached to wire frames. We also have a strobe light. And one that shrieks when movement is detected. And lots of floating ghosts. And and and......

Queen of Halloween regards...... twisted

(who has a load more flat styrofoam from the table and chairs we just bought.... bwahahahahaha..... twisted twisted twisted )
I've been putting the same re-usable plastic pumpkin in the window for five years now.

It lets people know I'll give out candy if required, but also that we're cheap.
im not doing anything this year .
I usally dress in a hideos mask and hairy hands to hand out candi to the local kids .

We live in a cul -de -sac and the number of perants willing to either drive or walk down to the end to visit has decreased every year and last year it was only IMMEDIATE nieghbours we had 3 lbs of candy left , so this year the door wil be locked ,the lights out and i save $20 on candy.

We will sit and watch a decent movie .

Mate, just buy the bloody candy and stuff yourself. That's what I do. Load up on candy and watch trashy 80's horror movies.

/those hairy hands aren't the costume
//not taking candy from any dirty old man's hairy sticky hands
///not even for the promise of puppies

I'm keeping all the lights off that evening and no pumpkin will be out. That should keep the kids away. "Humbug"

How about doing a "Lynching in the 20th Century" theme?
There are plenty of scary and frightening images you could use.

We used to decorate a little and do the candy where we used to live in NH but now we live in the woods with 6 neighbors we dont bother. The kids arent into it either at home but might go to a party or haunted house/woods type thing.
DW has a bizarre fetish for pumpkins, so we have pumpkin lights in all windows, hung around trees outside, a tacky pumpkin on the door and pumpkin lighted stakes all the way up the driveway.... roll grin

Well, I have an alterior motive for not saying that - the fact that I'm too lazy to do some drilling and nailing and stuff to be able to hang a decent decoration up. Dang thing is sellotaped to the door.
