our family is considering moving to canada, my partner and children are all canadian passport holders and i am british. Vancouver would be our first choice but we are pretty open to suggestions!. Does any one have any tips or first hand info they could pass on . Im a carpenter and my partner is a gardener ,niether of our children is at school age yet.Im not sure how easy it would be for me to get citizenship and work how healthy is the building industry in canada at the moment? We would be looking at roughly having $300,000 to spend on a place to live , would this get us much in B.C! Cheers

Not too sure about the working or housing situation in BC. I am in Ottawa and really can't give you any first hand info about that part of Canada. this may help.JOBS
The only advice I can really give you is to start off with the immigration hurdles. This, for your situation is covered in this Government site. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/sponsor/in.html
Carpenters are in short supply here in BC all the more so because of the upcoming winter olympics. Your wife can sponsor you and the whole process should take a year or so once you have submitted everything.
