I'm a British lawyer and there's a good possibility that I'm going to be offered a job in NYC. In terms of living, we'd be looking at Westchester.

My wife is from a very close family and she's never lived outside of her 'comfort zone' .... effectively she's lived in the same area her whole life.

She's worried about moving to New York and not knowing anyone, not fitting in and other related issues, and i'm terribly, terribly worried about how she'll cope.

If possible i'm looking to contact a few women who've moved out to the USA, particularly NY who can relate their experiences to my wife directly, and also possibly so that if we do move decide to make the move, she'll at least know someone in the USA when we arrive.

I know that it's a big ask, but if anyone can help then i'd very much appreciate it.

If you can help then i'd very much appreciate hearing from you.
Well I can't help you out here as I live in Virginia, but there's plenty of people on here who live in the NY area and I'm sure they'll be along soon.
By the way, we came out here for a 2 week look see first, that might be a thought to bring your wife over on a recce if you can..
My wife and I moved to NY 18 months ago. She did not want to come but now she likes it (though it's hard to get her to admit it). She has made a lot of friends and fitted in fine.

You dont say if you have kids or not - Westchester is a family place. If you have kids you will fit in. There are lots of British families there in NY and I think she will soon find them.

We live in Manhattan. I'd recommend that if it's only the two of you coming out. Another point is that NY is a new place for lots of Americans too (and many other nationalities) so there are plenty of people looking for friends.

You can PM if you'd like to set up a call with me/my wife.
