My first reaction is "that's my flag you pillock." Doyle is suggesting that a war 700 years ago and the actions of racist wankers on the far right IS what the St George means. Indeed, he's saying it's what England means. Does it mean that to you? Should the tv screen go blank during a football match between England and Poland whilst the flags are waving and the national anthem is sung? No.

This seems to be yet another misguided effort by the PC brigade. As a Welsh person who is also British, I don't see how anyone can suggest that wearing a pin of your own flag should be construed as being racist. We are four nations in the UK and have 4 flags - will they ban the rest of us next!

This is such an annoying misconception. Most of the early Crusades were in retaliation to attacks by the Turks and their purposed was to defend the Christian empire. I believe the first 3 Crusades were of a defensive nature. Most of the following Crusades were to try and recover the Christian Holy land. Can’t remember exactly, but I think there was only 1 Crusade that was truly initiated by the Christians with the goal to attack when no Christian Holy land was involved.
Whenever the Crusades are mentioned it is in context to the Christians killing all the Arabs, when reality was that the Christians got their butts kicks in most of the battles.
What USDeeper says. We lost the Crusades anyway so those complaining haven't read any history books and probably are basing this off Ridley Scott's last film.

Only a few days ago i read an article regarding an off duty soldier proudly flying a
flag outside his leeds home when two police officers knocked on his door saying
he should take it down as somebody had seen it from THE LOCAL PARK and
complained it was racist, they then proceeded to tell him he could be charged with
PUBLIC ORDER OFFENCES....
I think its about time the uk government stopped pandering to these complainants
[who are racist bigots themselves] and started putting some pride back into the
uk.

I remember the same thing happening during the Falklands war.. lots of flags and then the complaints. This is the type of BS that makes me feel ok about living elsewhere. The government and PC police are so in your face in the UK.
In the US, you would tell the police to go ahead and charge you.. and then call the ACLU, the media and anyone else who will listen and then have your day in court.
