Hi all.
I am British. Husband is American. Children were born in the States. Who (apart from moi) is entitled to British passports / citizenship / residence? How do they get it? Can they then work / live anywhere in Europe if / when they do get it? Thanks wink .

the kids for sure are entitled to passports, citizenship and residence.
As for hubby he will have to go through the visa process which I have heard often is a lot easier than to get over here.
Uk citizens can move freely within Europe and, doubt it with the US hubby, he would need to go through immigration process for whichever country you chose to go live in.
BTW Did you get my pm?
Isn't there still a residence requirement? I'm sure he has to live over there for 3 years or so before he can claim citizenship?
For the US citizen there would be a residency requirement no matter what European country you go to.
However once he had his citizenship from any of those countries he would be able to travel and work freely as you can in any European country.
How about if he got British residency but was in, say, France for the 3 years, and not in the UK, but he was there legally as a visitor. Could he still put that time toward becoming a British citizen? ???

From what i can see, it only applies to residence in the UK, and you have to reside in the UK for a certain(75%??) of the time.
