Ok, now I have two cats and have done for a while and all the little kinks that go with them. They are indoor cats and never go out but unfortunately I can’t say the same for another one that’s been roaming around our house at night.
It started with footprints on the cars and now twice in the last two weeks I have been woken in the middle of the night by blood curdling screams. The outdoor one is coming to the glass and taunting in the middle of the night and one of mine is taking the bait, hissing, screaming, clawing and jumping full bore at the glass!
Need suggestions to get rid of, the misses insists it has to be not lethal and even frowned at the creative use of mouse traps. Never heard a sound like it before and hope not too again any time soon shock
Can you not just keep the cat out of the room that the other cat visits?
I heard that cats hate the peel of citrus fruits such as oranges/lemons left in your garden.
We had the same problem for a while. Around 4am, the other cat would just calmly come to the window and just sit and stare, while ours would go nuts. We would pull the blinds down before we went to bed, but ours would manage to get behind them. I think eventually the other cat got bored that they couldn't get to each other and just didn't bother visiting anymore.

Heavy emphasis there moi lol
My cats don't like citrus. The visitor might be a female in heat. I have two doctored females, but theres a whole female that comes around periodically. Mine are allowed out on a screened porch and i thought that one of mine was so furious that she was going to bust her way out. After a few visits, they all but ignore the visitor
Crikey...I only pressed submit once!
There is a spray you can get at Home Depot that will put the citrus scent on just about anything - you could spray that outside where the cat goes (concrete base or beds near the window) and the cat will probably give that area a wide berth.
I forget the name of the product but it was a blue spray bottle and had a picture of both a dog and cat on it. The scent lasts outside for quite a while but is pleasant to humans.
Thanks guys, I will have to try the spray idea thou it never worked on one of mine when he when thru a cable chewing phase. Its the girl thats bugged so maybe its a male in heat who knows but I have alot of glass in this old victorian so short of locking the cats in the bathroom at night I will have to do something about my prowler.
I was a cat owner in the UK, but mine were always indoor/outdoor cats.
I have no idea whether or not this is a valid suggestion, but it struck me that cats are somewhat territorial. I'm wondering if you actually took your cats out (on a leash or something), and let them "mark their territory" as it were, whether or not this would help to keep your unwanted guest away.
Of course you could always try the hosepipe treatment for your unwanted visitor.
Mitch - we had the same problem with our cat chewing through wires. The bitter apple stuff didn't work and we ended up buying some cheap, black, thick, coiled, plastic, circular stuff from Radio Shack that wraps around wires. He then was unable to sink his teeth into the wire or of course fry himself.
My cats are indoor cats they are doctored males .
From time to time a nieghbourhood cats comes to visit and tries to catch a few birds , my cat warns me there is a visitor in the yard and i just tap on the back door and the cat scuries of .
Have used the spray you buy at home depot by only when its strictly neccasary .
a water pistol work well lol
As posted above, cats are very territorial. The cat causing this problem probaly is just horny. If you think it is a stray, call animal rescue to come collecet it and get it spayed/neutered )
