my mum always used to make me marmite and cheese sandwiches to take to school because I loved it so much. Nowadays, I just prefer the marmite on toast on its own.
Oh, I forgot.. hot crispy bacon quickly put between 2 slices of bread with lots of butter so it all melts and drips as you eat it.. bacon buttie..
This one goes without saying. My kids think it is off because instead of butter, I fry one side in the bacon fat. I sometimes put a little ketchup on it.
Even my English wife was turned off when I had some toast and beef dripping.
p.s. My cholesterol is fine.
My favourite way of eating a good british fry up always puts off the rest of my family but it something I learnt to do as child.
On a piece of fried bread, pile the following
Tomatoes tin variety the best for this exercise
fry egg soft so it spreads over the tomatoes
black pudding
mushrooms
and finally topped off with couple of slices of Ayrshire Back Bacon.
Of course if you like bake Beans with your breakfast like my dad, then you find space for that as well.
When my Nan was alive, one of her christmas gifts to me each year was a jar of pickle onions. How I miss them. Find them at christmas time in some stores over here but they are never as crisp they should be.

I do not eat it as much these days, but we used to have a lot of spam when I was a nipper. It was cheap. Last time I looked at the price for a can of spam in the US it was really expensive for what it is. Me mum used to fry the spam for sandwiches.
