Dear All
Wondered if i could bend your ears on this one. I am currently awaiting on the results of my application for permanent residence in the U.S and also on my application for a temporary work permit (I'm off for biometrics next tues) But the one thing I can't seem to pin down concerns and transatlantic travel plans my wife and I wish to make in the coming year.
Do I need to apply for some sort of travel document whilst awaiting Green Card? I just checked the processing times on the govt website and they're trawling through december at the moment, which is still a couple of months away from our initial paperwork submission. I've tried to contact a human being about this on the govt. telephone service but keep getting refered to robot voices which never have the correct information. I wouldn't be asking if i'd not already tried the website either.
Anybody out there more informed than I? ?
Much appreciate any help or gentle shoves in right direction.
The travel document is called Advance Parole - don't leave the US without it.
Cheers for that! Just downloaded the form, more money to throw at the govt. Wish they'd just asked for all of it upfront, save all this fannying about roll
Ho hum, all the best
thanks again grin
First time I applied for Advance Parole I got it within 30 days. Second time took almost 6 months. No exceptioons, no exclusions, no fast track - I needed it for a family funeral, made no difference.

As previously stated by Ameriscot - don't leave the country without it. If you do it is considered to be 'abandonment of application' and you will have to start all over again.
