Yeah, I read this too.

Words fail me.

Debs x ???
That was bound to happen, they sure didn't turn away the Venezuelean oil roll
Would have been better if they had put it on a ship and send it to Africa.. to feed the starving masses..instead of throwing it away.

Wasn't the president criticizing Africa for not taking GM food not so long ago??

This is complete madeness.
I've eaten those MREs and they are not too bad when you have nothing else on offer.

The apple flakes were lovely and the curry, although nothing like a real curry, was quite acceptable. The packs themselves are quite ingenious, with stuff like waterproof matches, hexi burners, fuel and a really good tin opener inside. You even get a packet of Rolos, although the writing in arabic on them always concerned me slightly!

Silly bureaucrats. sad
also speechless. evil
What a load of ................u know what???
An absolute disgrace. You'd think some petty nonsense about beef imports would be waived during a crisis but no.

My sister tells me that US troops are not permitted to eat NATO MRE's either unless they are actually on NATO exercises. Her husband, a squadie/medic in the RAF says that during tours he regularly swaps MRE's with US soldiers who liked the variety.

I found a pdf of the different types of MRE's available here -

Enraged, saddened (for the starving survivors) and speechless....other than to wonder why MREs are deemed 'safe' for American military while they are on Nato exercises, yet they are deemed 'questionable' for American civilians - starving American civilians! It's illogical and contradictory.
If I remember correctly, Fema asked for those rations when the Brits asked what they could do.
VERY VERY SAD but not unexpected thats the sort of thing that happens when you go thou govt chanels of red tape , bueaocracy , and layer apon layer of management local and national before you get anything done ,and its not going to get any better while some of you keep insisting that * the govy MUST take care of us from cradle to grave *
I don't know what to say, except this article is disgusting!

I've eaten MRE's - as a military dependent! And I'm still alive.

All this beaurocratic crap all because one department cannot agree with another department.

What ever happened to common sense - let's get the job done men, and forget the paperwork til later! those would help so many people. evil
I have been searching for corroboration but didn't find any.
