I've looked back and couldn't find this topic on the boards. It struck me that it would be interesting to see how we got together with our new partners.

I met my present husband online 6 years ago. We first met face to face 14 months later and I came over permanently last October. We were married in February of this year.

If you think I'm nosey, you don't have to respond! smile
I met my present husband through my 1st husband!
Handy that eh!
At Uni. One room left in a houseshare....
Online 8 years ago. Came over for a visit after we'd been chatting (online and on phone) for nearly 3 months, stayed 3 weeks instead of 2, went home for 4 days and came back for good.

I met my husband in Oxford. I was taking classes there, and he was the chef. That was 9 years ago this past August.
At Nottingham University about 23 years ago. I was dating one of the guys he shared a flat with.
Met hubby through my now ex BIL 22 years ago. We all went to an air show together )
Met Mike on a sort of blind date in a pub. My friend had been on holiday and met his landlord so the week after they returned home she dragged me off to Runcorn with her as moral support. Mike was there and we got chatting. I knew within 5 minutes that I'd marry him! grin That was 12 years ago....I was 31, he was 23! shock lol

Debs x smile
I met mine through Mensa; we were pen-friends for two years or so before we met face to face and married a little over a year after that. We had a total of 6 weeks of face to face contact before the wedding. Married 13 years now - we now share our anniversary with Hurricane Katrina.

Online - 6yrs ago. Chatted daily online (voice/video chat) and on the phone, then we took turns of regularly travelling back and forth 'across the pond', until I moved here permanently in 2001.

The university or the town?

At Uni - he was doing Junior Year Abroad.

He went out with me because I had a car; I went out with him because I though he was a rich American.
At a Valentines Dance in 1953
Married July 3 1953
I went to a craft fair with my mum that was held at RAF Upper Heyford (now closed), Dave was directing traffic. He asked if he could bum a cigarette, and then we got interupted. On my drive out, he motioned for us to pull over and I gave him my phone number.

He was engaged to someone else at the time, my in-laws have never forgiven him mrgreen and the rest is history! Married 14 years last August.
We met online in May '03 and after running up enormous phone card charges finally met face to face in October of the same year. I flew to the U.S and we did american stuff (Went to Williamsburg, went to Monticello, went to DC and saw the declaration document) and then did some british stuff (Went out for tea, went out for a curry) and then I came home. In March I flew out again and we travelled from VA to WI to meet her parents, went to a "supper club" and i experienced the coldest temperatures outside of working a blast freezer in a chicken factory. I asked Monica to marry me, she agreed and we started the long, painful, drawn out process of applying for K-1 visa. It took about six months until I went to London us embassy for final interview. Sold everything, gave away my dog( ) packed my suitcase, shipped a pallet of stuff, grabbed my guitar and took the cheapest flight out of heathrow. We married in Milwaukee in Dec, moved north to Wausau for six months and are currently in Newark DE where its really hot and the Drivers of Cars worry me by constantly talking on the phone with their backs to the doors of their cars. (I'm a cyclist and people give me the strangest looks). Having a great time tho.. just waiting on work permit and other stuff.
(Did I really need to say all that?)
