I've looked, i've asked, i've caused much consternation from Milwaukee to Baltimore, but i can't find it anywhere. We're in Newark DE at the moment and i'd love to liven up some of this weird U.S cheese with a dollop or two of the good old brown stuff, crunchy crunchy. mmmmmmmm. Am i just wasting my time? 8)
Milwaukee to Baltimore, eh? You obviously didn't stop in Cincinnati (not that I blame you) where it is readily available.

Not too far from you, in wilmington is;
http://www.britishinamerica.com/de.html
There are two sites. The one in wilmington is on 202, just a short distance north of 95.
I have to go myself for some pickled onions.
The one in Lewes says Branston.
Also on 202 is Stoney's English Pub, not really but they have some brit dishes:

Hope this works for you.

Should have gone through Ontario.
Sold in just about any supermarket.

That's right, even in no-frills ( the yellow banana grocery store ) :wink:
I brought some back from England last week - it was in a plastic, squeezy bottle so no danger of me breaking it in my luggage (which has happened before).
The only drawback is that the chunks are quite small in the squeezy bottle.
Good luck finding some - salad just isn't the same without it and it goes nice in a few home-made curries as well.
The Flavour of Britain is the Brit Store in Wilmington - great sausages too! Super G (Giant) supermarket in Smithville sells it, I don't know about other branches of the store. If not, order it online.

Ta very much. its not like i'm missing weird british food or anything..but..People ask me if I miss anything outside of friends and family.. and the only thing i could think of was Branston pickle and bacon that had less than 50% fat. We travel around a good deal (due to work not pleasure i'm afraid) and so every three or four months we settle somewhere new. Then you have to familiarise yerself quickly with grocery stores, music stores(most important) and good resturants. Thankfully theres a whole bunch of fairly decent ones down here..anyway, I'm prattling on..cheers for your help all.. we went to the concord mall a few weeks ago and completely missed the British store!! Ho Hum, off I trot! grin
So what do you do that has you travelling all over? Or will you have to kill me if you tell me?
......and welcome to Britnet, by the way, although I thought you'd been around for ever but see you only have four recent posts, so I must be confusing you with someone else.... ???
/ignore me, I'm batty
//anyone else remember Servant_Wayne? lol
Hello monster! Actually i've been around since last december but we spent most of the early half of this year without access to the net, then when we finally got back on line i'd forgotten my password so had to rejoin - but here we are anyway. My wife is a travelling nurse,so we move around from contract to contract. i'm still waiting on Green card and temp. work permit so I've not been working. We figured it would be a good way for me to see the U.S. - being that i was a poor english boy who'd not seen much of the world - so now we've done a whole bunch of road trips and seen a great deal of the country, its an interesting place. Winter in Wisconsin was tough, though i actually enjoyed it in some perverse way- we had a blizzard early in 2004 back in blighty that snarled up the roads and brought most of suffolk to a standstill. There was about a one inch snowfall and the temperature fell to about 30 degrees.
Wisconsin averaged about a foot of snow and 5 degrees for most of the winter.
Which lasted about four months.
Now its been 90 degrees here in DE for the last month, sometimes i miss the crappy english weather, but then we've got air con. so its not so bad! 8)
Darn servalan, an average of a foot and 5 degrees, possitivly balmy.
Here in Maine we average at [i]least[i] 3 feet and usually 5 below, sure others have even more.
As you see, servalan, you ask a question and the Canooks demand attention, but I must admit there has been a good selection of Britfoods there. I didn't find that in Maine, but the fish and seafood were better. Other than that I think they cut trees, and herd the moose. I would label those that winter there,"the Masochistic Mooseherders of Maine", I don't know what else there is to do there, or what else you are able to do there.
Shoot, I hope that my friends from Augusta don't see this.
I forgot to tell you that you can get lunch in the tearoom but you need to call ahead. If you do eat there, I recommend the warm gingerbread and lemon curd for desert.

Have to agree there isn't much choice for Britfoods in Maine but they aren't impossible to find here.

What exactly are you trying to say here? :evil:
And what does it have to do with the OP ? :evil:
There is much more to Maine than trees and Moose. Lots to do here especially in winter.
I don't know, things were getting boringly nice here so I thought I'd sprinkle some itchy powder here and there. And, I couldn't resist the onomatopoeia that had popped into my head, so I highjacked the thread.
Sorry oops
