mrgreen
We have just received our visa's after applying in Nov 2003 (hasten to say this isn't via the PNP business route, but skilled worker route)
Fredericton is our destination after following a similar 3 city tour last year i.e Fredericton -> Moncton and finally St John. If you are interested in New Brunswick Canada, I suggest you review the enterprise/immigration websites for NB which can be found at
http//www.enterprise-entreprise.ca
http//www.newbrunswick.ca/english.html/
http//www.gnb.ca/immigration/english/index.htm
Our general feeling after visiting all three cities was this
Fredericton = Government and University city, beautiful location very friendly, growing population, good facilities ie shopping malls, recreation, schools etc, predominately English culture.
Moncton = Vibrant enterprising city mixed french and English cultures at their best. We felt this place was growing at a pretty rapid pace and was really buzzing, good facilities as Fredericton, close to parlee beach and the famous warm sea (and it was), close to the Fundy Bay national park. Don't worry if you don't speak french as shop workers etc seemed to switch easily between them (although I would think it would be beneficial to learn if you are running a business there).
Saint John = Older larger city, one that has had its major old industries depleted by competition (ie ship building). It is more industrial than the other two cities and reminded me of a version of Sheffield (in UK) as a city in transition while it realigned itself with the new economy. We had run out of steam researching when we finally hit St John so didnt research it as well as the previous two (plus we had fallen for the charms of Fredericton).
There are online research available on the cities of NB to be found at
http//www.gnb.ca/cnb/nb/nb-e.asp
General information is available on http//www.gnb.ca/index-e.asp
Cost of living is considered to be one of the lowest of Canada (I have read it several times on these sites.
We are in the process of moving now. The house is sold (hope it stays that way), schools arranged and temporary accommodation arranged. Just the flights to book when we have exchanged contracts, scheduled for the 22nd Oct (can you tell I'm a project manager )
Good luck with your move when you pick one to go to.
