OK, someone at work showed me an advert for a fair he was taking his family to at the weekend. One of the "attractions" was gender-free dancing. Having no idea what that might be I looked it up on the internet -

So, apparently the idea is to :

• Create an alcohol-free welcoming space for all to dance with the partners of their choice;
• Promote the learning and enjoyment of contra dance within the lesbian/gay/bi-sexual/transgendered (LGBT) community;
• Offer an environment for all dancers where leading or following can be an option every dance.

Now, I have nothing against the lesbian/gay/bi-sexual/transgendered community. In fact some of the most enjoyable videos I have watched have featured certain members of their community.

But what the hell is an "alcohol-free welcoming space" ???

Anyway I do hope this information is of use to someone, educational even. Sure beats that crap about fat people & the Canadians banning things & reflectoporn that normally gets posted on here.
There's one of these weekly in Ann Arbor. Scared to ask, tbh.

It means break out the crystal meth and off we go...
Probably a politically correct name for swinging
Once again the only genuine grip one can have against the alterantive liestyle they are in your face .
Dancing is dancing if you want to dance with a member of your own sex ...DO IT dont need a special event at a fair to achieve that .
May be they do, in other to draw attention to it? I don't go to those things, and so don't know how they operate and the whole idea behind it
It's not all about sexuality and homosexuality, though. Traditionally when a couple dance, the man leads and the woman follows. But -especially in these days when fewer people learn to dance- some couples may be happier with the woman leading. At a traditional dance, a couple with the woman leading would stick out like a sore thumb -here they might not.

It's a bit like playgroups no-longer being centred around "moms" and toddlers.

I like that, and it wasn't the love boat mind you :mrgreen: How does the dance go again? In this day and age though, it doesn't matter who leads the dance, am more than happy for mrs glas to lead, she is a good dancer amongst other things
