Do you think people should be allowed to bring personal problems onto the board, from another board and hijack threads by having a slanging match?
no, but "allowed" is a bit of a vague word.
How do you propose to stop them? banning? ignoring?
How do you prove an argument came from another board and didn't just start afresh here?
People shouldn't be allowed to abuse children either.
And this is going in the touchy topics forum.
Hmmm...... Am voting NO, it's rude and obnoxious !
I have a little difficulty with the mechanics. If persons Dick and Jane have a fight on board Alpha, and they both post on board Beta, should we insist that they be all sweetness and light when on Beta?
I'm with Monster, I don't see how it can be done. You may "know" that they are the same people but you don't have access to the records of both boards.
I think that you have to leave it to the mods to handle these highjackings. They can split the fight off if it becomes obvious and intrusive.
p.s. You have me intrigued, I post on several boards but only one other that overlaps this one, but I've identified only a handfull that I think post on both.
I couldn't give a bugger either way to be honest. Anyway, Nigel started it when he said "no posting will ever be removed from Britnet for its content unless mandated by law to do so, the message is lost due to corruption of the disk or upgrade of the software and is removed with all others, or it expires along the guidelines of other postings".
Or a meringue?

Nah, yer reet.

And have they been?

No, but some of them bloody should be ...

I think you just treat them like trolls - ignore them.
I really couldn't give a bugger either way, but to be honest, I am a bit of a nosey one, and enjoyed reading the "fight" at the beginning. I thought it was hilarious at first, when all the "stuff" was being revealed. I even told Mr Mango AND the teenager stepdaughter all about it. They too found it highly amusing. We agreed that if someone used a pic of our house as their avatar, that we would probably pee our pants laughing. lol
However, once topics were being locked over it, then I got peed off seeing the same fight pop up in different threads. Should've been over and done with. And I know I kind of went off the question here. Just remembered what the question was... sorry! oops I got carried away.
I was trying to figure out what triggered this thread, and being a bit thick, I failed. I woke from a dream soon after three this morning, It must have been vivid because I remember it and I normally don't. Someone, I won't say who, was speculating on who the combatants were and listing people they recognized, as posting on both sites. I was one. I then started thinking about it, couldn't stop, and didn't get back to sleep until it was time to get up.
Now I'm going to be going from site to site and my brain will be trying to match screennames, despite anything I do. It's similar to having a tune stuck in your head. Still, having embedded the idea in your head, I may have company along the way.

Agreed cant have a argument unless at least two posters are involved .
So these spats flare up from time to time in real life too. If people want to argue it’s hard to stop them. How about a 'peace process' started by the mods on neutral ground?
- ‘Cease fire’ of personal abuse for the duration of talks
- A Reconciliation Hearing where the aggrieved parties can list every injustice suffered in other forums
Up for negotiation could be
- Avatar reform - usage & ownership rights
It will be entertaining at least…and keep the other threads clean. ?

did Nigel really say that ??????if he did then anyone can say anything and why have the word blocker the word F**k is not illegal althouigh it might be UNWISE to use it in this forum as kids may be reading ........
PC stuff is not mandated by law unless it involves inciting hate and then its up to a court to decide not a mod ...... this site is a PRIVATE site and the owner NIgel can make his own decisions as to what is and what is not allowed anything he *the owner * decides he doesnt want posted here is NOT COVERED by free speech laws .
