I was wondering what your opinions were on the proposed ban on certain pornography in Britian - you all for it? Think it should happen here too? You can read the story here-

I wonder, when does legal porn become the bad kind? Will there be a government entity that basically watches porn to figure out if its violent or not? There's some pretty unusual stuff that is viewed as entirely harmless to some - bondage, golden showers, fisting, you name it - but others can only see as violent. The "I'll know it when I see it" rule can't work at all here. If it is now illegal to view the stuff, will it be illegal to watch a rape scene on a tv show or video? Tim Roth's entire film career would be considered unsafe to watch. What about reading Henry Miller or looking at Robert Mapplethorpe's art - is that unsafe? Having the government be a surrogate parent is a tad sketchy to me - especially on an issue like porn. The case in the BBC article is sad, but the guy was clearly mental and this has as much validity to me as banning Iron Maiden or Black Sabbath as some have wanted previously. Virtually all porn - even the violent stuff - is conducted by willing particpants who are usually paid quite well. If you want to look at it, do whatever you want.
It should be banned everywhere really, butthe problem, some countries don't count it as a crime, that is why people like Gary Glitter are able to flee the uk, and go and set up their nest elsewhere.
On what should be done to paedophiles? I won't mention that here, but am sure a lot of people will agree on what I have in mind.
As far as I am concerned, I am an adult and I sholud be able to watch what I want to watch.
I do not watch the stuff portrayed here but who am I to stop someone else watching it. Each to his own I say.
As for kids getting hold of it.....the same goes for everything else doesnt it.
None of us want our kids to get hold of stuff that isnt age appropriate but they always seem to manage it dont they?
I saw and did a lot of things when I was underage but I had the common sense to know when far enough is far enough.
Nuff said

When a free invite is sent via email to just about anyone.
There are supposed to be filters on email in the UK, so my pal over there used them. Now every email from the states gets a huge red SPAM label. Can she stop the porn sites with a click here for a freebie, NO!
Porn should be accessible only to those who want it not thrown around where anyone can pick it up.
Also, i think snuff movies are over the top, especially when, as a local rag discovered a while back, they're actually real. Some poor immigrant girlie was found badly mutilated and very dead. She'd had quite a large viewing audience. How people can watch someone die whilst suspended by her body parts and bonked to death and bleeding beats the hell out of me. But then the world is full of sickos.
8) The porn law's in the UK are very strict really compared to here, but rarely enforced. Basically, the only real porn allowed is soft porn, just pictures of boobs etc i.ae the likes of fiesta etc.
The trouble is there is so much hard core stuff around it becomes hard to enforce, plus with the likes of hard core channel beaming stuff in it got even harder, an example would be Red Hot Dutch. When that hit the air, they said it was OK to watch the program, but against the law to record it. They then banned people selling the decoding cards as a way to control it. Then the internet took a hand so become even harder to control. No Government will say it OK to have hard core porn in the UK, because of the moral out cry, plus the vast amounts of Amateur stuff being made as well.
As an adult I do not really care what two consenting adults get up to as long as they don't push it in my face. Things that are and should be banned kids, animals and violent sex acts. Good idea but hard to enforce
I agree with Mr Bungle's comment on defining the line between whats acceptable or not. Would it suddenly become illegal to own a copy of Clockwork Orange? It would be impossible to enforce.
There's no evidence to prove that watching porn of any kind turns you into a nutter. The guys obsession with rape and strangulation scenes is cearly a symptom of an already existing mental disorder. If more effort was put into recognising the signs of a troubled mind and treating it rather than blindly blaming porn, Judas Priest, gun laws, etc. we would all be safer.
If the type of porn that he was watching wasn't available, he would have channeled his disturbed thoughts into something else. In other words, he probably would have done something terrible anyway.
Regarding snuff movies, I don't know about the case that Annie mentions but police have been investigating snuff movies for years and have never found evidence for their existence. If that one is true it'd probably be a first.
The first snuff movie was called "Snuff". Thats why they were called snuff movies. It was actually a very poorly half made Argentinian film that was bought and finished by a Hollywood studio who released it with very little publicity. It was so bad that it looked real and the rumours started that it was showing a real murder. The Hollywood studio didn't do anything to quell the rumours and so the myth of snuff movies was born.
doubledix There has been a couple of "snuff " movies found. These basically originate from war zones like Bosnia, so they are out there. The beheadings in Iraq could technically be called snuff films. The trouble with with identifying these films, is are they real. Due to todays special effects, you sometimes have to resort to the observations of someone like a surgeon to confirm that the thing is for real.
There are many horror moves banned in the UK as well. The Texas Chain Saw masquer would be a good example of such a film. When looking at these films the law is even more grey than porn films ie see penetration its illegal. Horror films are very much subjective i.e someone front being cut "do they linger on the scene of the knife going over the throat etc. Normally you would see a quick flash of whats going to happen and a scream and then moves on with the story.
The Exorcist was not allowed be owned for many years in the UK, even though you could go to the pictures and see it.
There have been studies done on censorship of movies etc and I think it comes down that we censor things to protect society for the 1% that cannot tell the difference from reality and fact.
The press does not help on the subject really, with headlines stating when some sex pervert was caught, they found copies of play boy etc. Then everyone jumps up saying see the magazines made him do it.
Is a very interesting topic as we can look at studies and show there is a link to violent movies and violent crime .
Judge Potter Stewart said of pornography, "I can't define it, but I know it when I see it." The same could be said of violence portrayed on the screen. And you and I would decide differently. When they write rules on child pornography, they make it illegal for you to take a picture of your baby in the bath. Since it has long been traditional to take such pictures I have visions of aged people charged with child porn and their middle aged children being induced to recall memories of abuse.
I'm not belittling child porn, I just don't know what can be effectively done about it.
Most porn in the US ANYWAY is now very much vinilla just so many nude bodies locked in a sex act, nothing exciting or intereting in that *wham bamm thank you mamm* bump and grind stuff .
Violent or SM porn is a differant thing altogether and in most SM movies there is no penetration cus the voyeur watching gets of on the violent stuff .
Actually the cap between *general movies *and * adult movies * is narrowing very quickly .when the studios had 100%control of the industry all films to get a showing and a chance to make a profit had to follow the guide lines set down by the studios and had to be cut to applease the general public .
Then the VHS /DVD market took of and movies where made to go direct into the customers home and of course it wasnt nesasary to submit the movie to the MPAA for its approval
Now the independant movie makers became a force and many many more european films made there way to these shores "before it was hard for a foreign made movie to get a showing here even it followed all the guidlines of the MPAA as hollywood monopolized the movies .,and the movie theatres .
Now the DVD market is even better and lder movies american and foreign are finding there way into our homes , indy film makers dont feel the same way as hollywod studios do about sex "and usually keep the violence to a minimun no gratuitous "for the sake of " violence is included .
Many do have explicit sex in them from movies makers such as catherine breillet ,
larry clark , lars von trier , tinto brass ,and others .
Only the other day i saw a movie a hit at the toronto film festival from accliamed (american) movie maker vincent gallo called the brown bunny ,*obtainable at netflix* about a professional bike rider which includes explicit scenes of a "knob slob ' this is a main line film ,others where the violence is mild or non existent but sex is explicit is romance (french ). intimacy (british ) sex and lucia (spanish ) to name a few . .
These films are available completly uncut from your local internet rental companies .netflix . dvd pacific etc .
violance we dont need ..
. Every body enjoys a little intimacy

/love me my porn
//even better when the missus buys it
To paraphrase Billy Connolly who when asked about sex and violence said something along the lines of...."Aye, give me sex anytime...I'd rather be fucked than killed!" shock
I'll have whatever she's having regards......

What? I don't think I enjoy watching intimacy. Isn't that what a peeping tom does?
I enjoy porn films when I want to watch porn and violent films when I want to watch violence. I certainly dont want to watch romance, no matter how many tits are in it. Nor will I watch an arty film in the hope of glimpsing a "knob slob".
Contrary to what JohnA says the independent films are probably more violent than the hollywood efforts, mainly down the the realism as opposed to the comic book violence. I'm no expert but i think Scum, Man Eats Dog and Romper Stomper were all ultra violent, independent, and excellent films. Wasn't Resevoir Dogs independent as well?
I mean Man Bites Dog - must of been hungary at the time of writing

Yes resevoir dogs was a indy from the director qeuntin tarantino the same director who gave you pulp fiction another violent movie .
I was refering to european indy movie makers and as i stated in the body of my post they USUALLY do not include gratuitous violence . of course there is always the exception thats why i said "USUALLY".
You have pointed out one exception that is violent which of course does NOT disprove my point .
Very many holywood movies include gratiutous violence and many europeon offerings dont, and that was my conparison .
If you though you viewing experiance have found otherwise FINE we beg to differ on that .
* Peeping tom *
I s a expresion applied to a person who derives sexual satisfaction from watching others undress or engage in a sexual act ..FROM A HIDING PLACE.
it came from a tailor called tom who hid and observed as lady godiva rode by nakid on her horse >>Or so the story goes :-)
the Term *voyeur * simply means one who seeks sexual stimulation by visual means , if you watch porno you are a voyeur ..
pss its okay its not a crime :-)
Art films romance / erotic movies are certainly a long way from the blatent * wham bamm thank you mamm *type of cheap porn that is turned out to which i was refering to .
..But there again it just a matter of indivudual choice there are movies made for every taste and if you choice to watch striaght porn and violence but not artsy / erotic movies with a concievable story line thats up to you .
Isnt that what freedom of choice is all about .??

If I wanted to watch soft-focus edited for content arty boobage I would watch that.
I prefer the Vivid stuff myself.
