I am thinking about dropping heavy hints at David towards Christmas time about a Satellite radio.

Trouble is, I dont know which one to go for and cant seem to find anything out which is at a rhudimentary/know nothing/stupid level.

There are so many different ones out there whether it be Sirius or XM.

I want to listen in my car and in my home with the same gizmo.

I think my car is XM ready but I have no idea what that means.

Even though car is XM ready I quite fancy Sirius because of Radio 1.

We live in the far reaches of outer Mongolia.....Cant get Cable, DSL and only have very patchy hit and miss Cell service, have to go outside to answer the cell phone and then the signal is still garbage.
Would satellite radio be the same?

I need lots'a help please

Mandy
For home and car use, I hear Sirius is the way to go, just waiting for it to get to Canada next month or so.
Prompted by your question I went online and looked at the websites for the two main contenders.
Sirius looks to me to have the better programing.
You can check it out online free for a couple of days by signing on as a guest

BBC Radio 1 with a time delay so you listen to the breakfast show in the morning.
Reggae and world music channels are pretty good

Thanks all.

I am still biased towards Sirius cos of Radio 1.

I think what I wanted to find out was which mobile (plug'n'play) gizmo is the best from both companies.

More importantly, what reception problems (both in the car and in the house) pose difficulties, and is one better/worse than the other.

I cant even think about which gizmo to hint about until I can pin one company or the other down.

There seems to be so many gizmos for each one and I dont know which ones are naff and which are good.
