Denmark 4 England 1

WTF?
Calamity James.................

How come Gerrard always plays like Bambi on an ice rink for England?
Yeah. Started listening to it on the Internet at half time. Bollocks to that.
How did you listen on the 'net? I thought it was blacked out by the Beeb outside the UK?

Well yeah, but he was apparently not at fault for any of the goals. Although playing in front of him, I'd be pretty nervous.

Maybe we need to wear his favourite colour red for all our games now.

I had to sit there at work seein the goals come in, and have Canadians and a Polish co-worker ( that got thrashed by Israel ), take the piss out of me. Even Canada ranked 86 or so in the world, could have done better than that.

Germany 2006......we might as well just sit back and don't bother going

It was on talksport.net. I don't know why or how they allowed it, but it was on! Maybe its not blacked out for friendlies?! :???:

I'll have to give that a try in future.
There was two places showing the game live, one wanted a $20 cover and the other $10. Bloody cheek for a friendly match so I ducked out and saved me an afternoon of pain along with a few bucks.

They had no reason to play, it's like they were all there just cos they has to be. Only Smithy had to balls to stay home, for a match like that there should have been 4-5 fringe players on from the start to make it interesting. Shame Bent never got 45 mins to run out instead of owen as we know about him, waste of time that will give the clubs more reason to whine to the FA about this sort of scheduling.

As for the WC, we will be there and the play will be better than this week thats for sure. Another extra time run out in the QF only to loose on Pens again says me, cant be havin a headline line that says England well beaten by the better side now can we wink
Wonder if Denmark did their Scandinavian version of Norway' commentator?

"Maggie Thatcher, Lord Nelson.... your boys took a beating....." etc.
I can't provide the answer myself, but who should be the first choice keeper then?

Robinson? Great but not world class.

Green? C'mon

I can't think of anyone else. Is Russel Hoult English?

We've probably got the best back four in the world (apart from Roberto Carlos) so a dodgy keeper has got to be to blame but who else is there?

International midfielders are going to be quaking in their boots when facing the likes of Gerrard and Lampard so there's not to much of a problem there, but I think that most back fours will be overjoyed at the prospect of facing Rooney and Owen as two front men. There's got to be a better way of doing it. Any ideas, Sven needs you (I would have sacked him years ago after the "we don't want to play like that fiasco").

When I looked at the result that was the first thing I thought of!!

It's incredible. We lost in a friendly to a good team....big deal. Everyone is talking like it's the end of the world or something. After a couple more qualifiers and a few more points, it'll all be forgotten and people will be going on about how Rooney, Owen, Gerrard etc are world class.
I don't get why everyone's so annoyed at playing these friendlies to begin the season.

Doesn't anyone remember it was one of the two sure signs of autumn approaching, the kids were playing conkers and England had screwed up their qualifying chances by losing 0-1 in Norway or drawing 0-0 in Luxembourg or something like that.

At least now we get our bad performance out of the way before the real stuff starts. I'd rather lose 4-1 to Denmark in a friendly than 0-1 to Bellamy's and Savage's boys in qualifying.
Just watched the game which was shown last night on delay on Setanta.

0-1 James charges out of his goal, meets the forward and Ashley Cole about 5 yards outside the penalty area, is unable to use his hands that far out and plods back to the goal area where he fails to dive to intercept the cross tapped in on the goal line.

0-2 James is too busy doing cartwheels in the 6-yard-box to save the shot. He is far too passive in the goal area let alone the penalty area, and dives at a shot which is cleared off the line, then when the next shot comes in he is still on his way around to facing the front.

0-3 Vicious inswinging corner at the front of the 6-yard box, which *should* be goalie punching territory. James has one foot rooted to the goal line and dangles the other one at the ball hoping he'll stop the header. Carragher lost the marking on the scorer.

1-3 Great vision by Beckham and Rooney. Beckham intercepts a slowish pass by Gravesen about 40 yards from the England goal on the right wing. He charges down the right flank, and Rooney asks for the ball ahead of him. Perfectly weighted pass to Rooney and it's past the advancing goalie. Great goal.

1-4 Another fast attack from the Danes, James comes out to narrow the angle but sits on his arse too soon, and the ball is played wide of his grasp.

James was 60-80% to blame for all four goals.

England were dominant in the first half with a number of chances to go 1 or 2 ahead. But the 6 or 7 changes made at half time left the team cold starting the second half.

Sven needs some more b***s when dealing with club bosses. We need to keep our shape for 10-15 minutes of the second half and then start the changes. No more than 3 substitutions at half time!
