I was just wondering, after watching "The O'Reilly Factor" last night where he went after Cindy Sheehan for the second day running (I assume her crime is freedom of speech?).......

Anyway, the Bushies seem to think that him sending out some staff to talk to her should placate her and she should be on her way. Sheehan says not and is waiting (continuing to embarrass Bush and his ilk) to talk to Bush himself.

I just wondered if this was the first time in recorded history that someone had demmanded to talk to the monkey and not the organ grinders. mrgreen
I have to say props to Cindy Sheehan. Been following this for a few days on another site. She has cojones of steel and if I could get the time off I'd be there with her.

/loves watching the right-wing talking heads trying to spin this.
//why does Cindy Sheehan hate America?
It has been quite distasteful to see so many talking heads lay into Sheehan. Fact of the matter is it's a no-win situation for the Prez here. She has every right to do what she is doing. However, since Sheehan has been joined by others her tone has changed uncomfortably for me. Now she stands next to David Duke railing against Israel. For example, this comment of hers seems a bit weird to me - "Am I emotional? Yes, my first born was murdered. Am I angry? Yes, he was killed for lies and for a PNAC Neo-Con agenda to benefit Israel. My son joined the army to protect America, not Israel."

It is never a good idea to have David Duke standing alongside you. That's just nuts. Of course he's been to Crawford many times.

Also it seems Mr Sheehan doesn't feel the same way and is seeking a divorce.

I don't know about the Dukes link - I did see Sheehan explain the "Israel" slur and so long as she is not being anti-semitic, which I doubt she is, I see nothing wrong with it.

I too find Israel a somewhat disgusting country, propped up by American money and influence and I'm hardly in a minority, outside of these shores at least.

O'Reilly was going on about how she has already met Bush, after her son Casey was killed which is true and quotes her as being happy back then.

He rather misses the point that the lies from Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld et al filtered out later, after the meeting and Mrs. Sheehan has every right to adjust her view - in fact, she should be applauded for being intelligent enough to draw her own conclusions.

The timing of the divorce is very unfortunate but then again, she probably has more support around her now than she might have expected any other time so from one divorcee to another, I wish her peace happiness and some privacy as she deals with that. As for her husband, she seems to bear him no malice for the timing which he allegedly tried to sneak through to protect her, although very little seems to get past "The Smoking Gun" nowadays - actually I'm a bit suprised they found the time to put this article up as they've been having a bit of a Lovefest recently with Teacher-Pupil relationships but that's a whole new story.
Don't get me wrong, I am certainly not defending Israel. But since Duke and others turned up they do seem to be pushing her to broaden her complaints to general MoveOn.org grievances.

And you are absolutely right - Sheehan explains her anger as being truly fostered after meeting Bush.

What really bothers me about this whole shabang is the nonsensical things being said in defense of the President. John Podhoretz basically said she should be ignored because she's a Democrat. Pardon!? Jonah Goldberg called her "a partisan." What the hell does that mean? Or Kate O'Beirne of The Corner asking for pro-war grieving mothers to protest Sheehan. How absurd is that? The argument is that she used to support Bush in 2004, and now doesn't so has little integrity. Well, there are a great deal of Republicans who have done the same. Partly due to alot of what has been learned in the last year. So clearly the anger comes at fearing what will likely happen in 2006.

And this all seems a bit too much of a "let's talk about her instead of Iraq" to me.
Doncha just love the grassroots democracy in this country?

Lets export democracy to the world, hopefully, there'll be none left here. ??? twisted
The right's latest attempt to take on Sheehan (who is now absent visiting her sick mother but reckons she may get back to Crawford shortly).

Actually, this looks slicker than the PR that Sheehan has been accused of so I hope O'Reilly and his fellow bottom-feeders mention this and point out who actually runs 'Move America Forward' - a misnomer to me but there you go.

The military mother they put up as saying Cindy does not speak for her or other military families misses one rather glaring point - Cindy knows how it feels to lose her son in the war.

This mother and others that back 'Move America Back Into the Dark Ages' have that sad occasion yet to come. I wonder if their tune will then change or if the blinkers will stay on forever?
I was surprised to see Sheehan's name being bandied about the blogosphere today - seemed like a dead topic to me. At first it was her name being included in a growing list of Democrats opposed to Hillary Clinton being nominated as Dem candidate for President in 2008, but then they all went giddy over this comment in a recent interview

""His [Clinton's] policies are responsible for killing more Iraqis that George Bush.""

Of course it Counterpunch so who knows what's going on.
She was in UK around Christmas I think - maybe that is why she sort of faded away here. You know, US media - inability to report on anything outside of its own borders or not affecting their citizens abroad?

I just think it is sad that it takes some bereaved housewife from California to stand up to the blatant corruption and nestegg building going on right now, in the name of security, patriotism and other such nonsense.

And what's with several media anchors starting to tar those not aligned with the White House as being like Osama bin Laden? Chris Matthews was at it the other week - is Scott McClellan writing his scripts now?
