Yeah.....but the wages aren't the same are they? Dollars Vs Pounds Vs Euros
8) Mrbungle also read that story today, but from information I have its not the demand that had people waiting in lines in China, it was the fact the government controls oil supply and it cannot push it out to some of the remote areas to quickly.

Funny thing is that people have talked about new refineries, but trouble is no one wants them in their back yard lol.

Same as wind farms really, everyone says great build more, right up to the point where you have to have one at the end of your garden lol.

But for years now we know when theres going to be a greater demand for oil, namely winter for heating oil and summer for gas, so why don't they buy more gas and store it ready for those times.

I understand the airlines purchase their gas years in advance, they see a good price and purchase so many millions of the product at that price.

I have asked the question as to way we build new airlines that have a working life of say 25 years, that work on jet oil, when they say oil will not be there in 20 years ???

It was 90p a litre when we were home, we rented a Passat Wagon, which was wonderful on fuel comsumption, compared with the Volvo V70 from 2002.

Oi! I just bought one of the Swedish beasties in June, a V70 like the aforementioned, and while I love it, and will probably buy another when the time comes, it sure sucks up the petrol! Almost $50 to fill it up where we live along the New England coast.

Alas, the hubby says I'm not allowed to complain about petrol prices, not when I know how much he's paying other side of the pond.

ha HA! I knew I'd find you here! ;) I now pay 14 dollars for half a tank, but now that John has a car, he's complaining about the gas prices! Still says how cheap they are compared to the UK, but its the 6 cent hike from morning till afternoon that gets us both.

It's insane. I always used to get petrol before the weekend, when it would typically go up. But now I'm not letting the tank get below half and I'm really curtailing my driving. But Mr. Deaux remains unphased. When I asked him if he'd start to worry when it hit $5 a gallon he looked at me as if I were on crack.

I just hope it doesn't get to $5 a gallon. :???:

its only ever going to go up, get used it it lol

What the.....? You're paying LESS than $2 a gallon over there! Bloody he!!

Our local went down 2 freaking cents. Gee for what that saves me for a whole tank I could maybe buy 1/3 of an apple or possibly an entire banana, if it was a small one.

OMG Sleepy, are you telling me that I am making this trip to Philly in vain? I am speeding north on the I95 with my laptop right now, heading straight for the BP station that has their gas a whole dollar cheaper than anywhere else in the country.

Where's the next rest stop. I guess I will be pulling a ewey  .
