I have been here long enough to be very sad to hear that Peter Jennings - the ABC news anchor - has died. Of all the anchors on all the US networks he was the very best. I liked him because he was Canadian, because he didn't sensationalise things and he had a voice that was very easy to listen to. I have really missed him these past few months and am sorry he won't be returning. cry
Good bloke, good journalist, very good anchor.

I liked him because he really was the smartest anchor on tv. And he didn't entertain the games of most politicians. For example, during the Democratic primaries he really showed Al Sharpton and John Edwards up as clingers-on just by asking them a simple question that he knew they could never answer. I suppose he was the most British-style anchor of the lot of them.
Sad too sad
