Excuse me for my skepticism, but the proof of the pudding....etc, etc. I will be highly surprised if the IRA disband "completely", however I sincerly hope they do. Time will tell......

Cynical regards mrgreen

im very cynical have been all my life ..but im also a optimist and dont mind how many *other chances * i give then to disband as long as it stops the kiljing even for a short while

What bothers me is the wording thats being used. It could just be me making more of it than there is to it.
The statement, "They will cease armed activity in N Ireland" What about the rest of Britain? Are they going to continue armed activity there?
I thought they'd ceased almost 10 years ago in the rest of Britain.

I think all the old IRA terrorists need to join the armed forces and police and become bomb experts to help fish out the Jihadists who seem to be all over Britain.
I think this bit of wording refers to the extent of their disarmament - "the leadership of the IRA have decided that as of midnight, August 31, there will be a complete cessation of military operations. All our units have been instructed accordingly."

Oh no wait....that was the 1994 ceasefire statement. http//cain.ulst.ac.uk/events/peace/docs/ira31894.htm

Color me skeptical. But having said that, maybe now British police have started killing terror suspects on sight the IRA have decided to stop being evil bastards.

Another question is what about the "Real IRA" in all this? Are they included?

At the very least this might mean the end of the Rev Ian Paisley scaring the beejebus out of everyone when he appears on television.
lol Hope it come all through. Talk is cheap as they say.

What is happening about the so called True IRA, they splintered off sometime ago, if I remember.
