so i'm sure you all know that Daylight Savings Time is being extended by a month at the beginning and at the end also. The reason given by congress is that it will "save energy." I was wondering what you thought of that.

A guy on NPR said Britain tried it (I had no idea0 in the 60s and there was absolutely no change. I'm sure that's true otherwise why switch back? And I know that Airlines have complained that the switch will screw up their international schedules and cost them millions. Add the millions needed to be spent on upgrading software. And if i lived in the sunnier states I'd be angry that the blazing hot sun will be out for an hour longer - no more cooler evenings for you. So instead of saving energy you're all going to crank up the A/C for an extra hour or so at least.

Also when Congress - particularly this one - says it is doing something to "save energy" you know it isn't true. Besides, with the sun still out aren't you more likely to go out? And in the US you have to drive to go out. And surely with it being darker in the morning (in the fall when the switch is still in effect) wouldn't you switch all your lights on seeing as the sun isn't out?

This seems like a needlessly costly idea to me.
Just another example of GOVT interfering with nature leave the FUCKING natural clock alone .
Absolutely couldn't agree more.
During the WW2 we had what they called double summer time. It meant that it was even harder to get us kids in from our after dinner play.

You might find this wartime story where a reference to Double British Summer Time is mentioned,
