These are two off-the-cuff remarks made on two completely different channels I have heard lately.
From Fox News - (talking about the London bombings) - "That these people are, If necessary, prepared to spill Arab blood in addition to the blood of regular - of nonarab people living in London."
From NBC - (talking about Brits of Pakistani decent because 3 of the suspected London bombers had been there recently) - "Most who return to Pakistan do so innocently." (my italics)
Now, I expect the us-versus-them mentailty from Fox (and that "regular" comment is racism pure and simple) but I've started seeing some other odd behavior seeping into other news broadcasts. The padding, or the scene setting of alot of stories lately seems to have this sort of odd stuff in it. Do Americans really not get the symbiotic nature of Brits who's ancestry is elsewhere? And is it me or is the mainstream media really being a tad West versus Rest?
