What's going on with Karl Rove? His supporters are upset and crying "unfair!" over the calls for his resignation, while the White House is keeping quiet for the time being - except McClellan, the Press Secretary who is actually having to do some actual "hard work".

I'm not sure Rove is going to get prosecuted for treason - his "crime" doesn't really fall into the realm of the 1982 law that enemies are baying for him to be tried under. However, it appears to me that he could be set for a fall in a Martha Stewart type way - someone (not naming any names at this point) has possibly lied to the investigators/grand jury in the months leading up to this point and this could be what is sending GOP folks scrambling around, trying to fight off the barbs with attacks - much in the way that Rove is infamous for doing. Still, the smarter GOP members appear to be keeping quiet, hoping it will blow over and not leave anything nasty smeared on them.

I can picture a bit of praying going on in the White House this week.
disclosing classified information is a crime.

disclosing it to a newspaper or the Russians makes no difference.

Hang him I say.
I think this is a turning point for Bush. The White House Press Corp have the smell of blood. I think it is fair he should resign if the allegations are true. The White House refusing to comment on the allegations when previously they denied them speaks volumes.

They are going to try and brazen it out - bunch of scumbags that they are - hope they fail.
Revealing the identity of a covert agent in a time of war is treason. No two ways about it. Rove blew the entire network and I guarantee you every local who ever met Valerie Plame in the Middle East is now having nasty things done to them. With a cattle prod.

/would pay good money to see Turd Blossom frogmarched in irons
If these allegations are proved to be true, and I haven't read anything so far to make me believe they're not true, I most certainly think he should be fired. Better still, hung, drawn and quartered. White House stonewalling is no more than I would expect. I'd love to be a fly on the wall as they try to wangle their way out of this one. Wonder what lies they'll concoct this time so Bush and his Administration can come out smelling of roses. Makes me sick to my stomach.
This one is interesting ill found out the truth when they all stop playing politics

Hey, there's always a lot of praying going on in the Whitehouse on a regular basis
And I just thought the Hotline was to the russians?

Politics is a dirty game roll
Whether he was guilty or not, slimeball Rove will probably find a way to weasel out of it. I don't think it will do any good for public trust of the whitehouse occupants though.
I read that Karl Rove was fired by Bush I for leaking a name to Robert Novak...!

"Rove fired from Bush Sr's '92 campaign over leak to Novak. Karl Rove was fired from the 1992 re-election campaign of Bush Sr. for allegedly leaking a negative story about Bush loyalist/fundraiser Robert Mosbacher to Novak. Novak's piece described a meeting organized by then-Senator Phil Gramm at which Mosbacher was relieved of his duties as state campaign manager because "the president's re-election effort in Texas has been a bust." Rove was fired after Mosbacher fingered him as Novak's source."

Rove is a turnip. But a very very clever one. Which led me to wonder a few things. If he was the source, then why on earth is Miller still in jail? And Novak not? I thought it meant that there must be more than one source. And Rove was smirking and chuckling all week - which meant he knew something. Now at looks like he did - his testimony is that the leak came from the media! Which apparently Cooper and Novak concur with. Add that Joe Wilson has now said that his wife wasn't covert at the time. I really dislike Wilson, but.....

But two things remain.

1) Bush said he'd fire anyone involved. They are "insiduous traitors" is what he said. (He must have had "insiduous" as his toilet-paper-word-of-the-day). So Rove has to go.

2) Bob Novak should be pummelled with bricks. He is an embarresment to journalism.
Its getting murkier and mukier .
i agree the least that should happen is rowe is relieved of his duties while the investigation is going on .

As in all crisis like this the leaders of whatever party is under presure circle the wagons around the accused .

What crime he commited if any depends on what was said to whom and in what context ,was it a INTENTIONAL leak or just a gaff must also be taken into acount .

it does indeed look like the administation is hiding something so it doesnt look good .

The blogs have it all differant ways but which and according to how far they are to the right or left he is eithercompletly innocent or quilty of high treason, the truth is somewhere inbetween

There again novak is at the centr of this one to and hes has said as it states in the article that rove *was not the sourse * as in all scandals in american politics the public NEVER really get to know the truth *

examples .

chappaquiddick .

kenndy assasination .

politics here in US is a game of hide and seek, lies and deceit , cover and uncover .

I think the Republican Party are really slipping lately. Not on the ball. I mean, this was the campaign poster at the local "Say Yay to Social Security Reform!!"
