I'll second that.

Worked for a while at the Lucas plant on great King Street..... :???:

Yes that's where the hospital is but I think Dudley is quite crowded and was looking for a little more space. Do you live in Birmingham?

Do you live in Birmingham? I want to be working there....I just don't want to live in the city limits....wants a little space between my neighbor and I. It just all sounds so crowded. Looking for housing on the internet has not been fun.

a Little space is all your likely to get, if you have plenty of money, even in the suburbs.
Britain doesn't have the same space as the US to build houses and row houses are the norm rather than the exception there.
You may have to resign yourself to the faact that you will have neighbours on one or both sides and a yard the size of a postage stamp.

UKSM, are you a member of this site:
http://www.americanexpats.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl
There are plenty of US expats who can help you assimilate in the other direction. Although the boards are mainly paid membership (not many free topics).

Why did you put the dogs through quarantine? Didn't you know about the PETS microchip passport scheme?
Birmingham is fine. I lived there for 11 years. There are plenty of nice, commutable, rural areas on the outskirts. Look north, west and south. Studley. Inkster...places like that. How long is your posting for? I would say your best option was to take a short term lease on the most convenient place you can find then spend your time off looking for your real home.
