After some deliberation, it may be that Derek's classic film collection (UK VHS tapes) will soon be on it's way to a new home.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, the multisystem VCR that we'd had has officially bitten the dust. Replacing it with a VCR/DVD mulitsystem combo will indeed prove to be a pricy proposition so one of the possibilities is to give his VHS tapes away.

The right of first refusal goes to his family, of course, but if anyone has an interest in learning more about the collection, just holler. I've only looked briefly (it's still a bit hard) but from what I recall, there's some great silent stuff along with the big names you'd expect.

Can't say the tapes are in great condition either, since our house is not airconditioned, but for anyone who truly loves the cinema, I'd suppose that it's about more than just the picture quality.

And those of you who despise the Valley (and don't think I don't know who you are) should not even for a moment entertain the notion of asking about the Charlton tapes.
You might want to think about donating them to a college or high school for their film library. Maybe Pace in White Plains would like them(speaking up for my wife's alma mater)? Or maybe Columbia (speaking up for mine)? Failing that, I'm sure you could find a deserving NYC high school that would take them.

Good luck.
We have a multi-system VCR. Are they movies or tv shows? (Besides the Charlton tapes.)
I am i bit of a movie buff and have a large collection of classics ,all genra.s and experimental films from the 70 era and they are being replaced as fast as i can by dvd s

some oldies will never be converted so i will hold onto them in there original VHS FORMAT .
