I found the data on this web page interesting. Especially the plot for the adjusted figures. When petrol was $1.60 a gallon in 1990 it was relatively more expensive than it is now. Never mind the early 80s in the aftermath of the oil crisis.

Yeah i saw a chart similar to that a few months ago , i think what makes it seems so expensive is that it went up quickly and by large amounts .

Its still way below the price paid for the same ccommodity in europe .
