Someone is going to make a mint out of this, surely the price is not justified, why does it have to cost this much?

I d cards first step towards a police state .
The price isn't justified neither is the amount of information that will be carried on them..

britain really is heading towards a police state thanks to the blairite regime.
Only a matter of time, before things become like they are in North Korea, where even the internet is monitored.

Then we'll have blairs stormtroopers boarding bus's, trains, being stopped in the street, demanding to see i.d.

8) I am not really worried about the ID cards, but if it gets the go ahead I'll be upset to have to pay for the thing.
The way the social security system works in Britain means that there is a file on everyone in Britain anyway. So really the complaint should be the astronomical fee.

As for the US - we do have ECHELON. And you thought your email was safe!
I can see the logic in i.d. cards but i dont see the logic in having bank details, credit card details, n.i. numbers, driving licence details etc....
Its just another step toward a big brother state.

Next they’ll be locking people up indefinitely without charge, trial or release, or forcing children to register with the military under penalty of law, banning flag protests, looking at your medical records, tax records, information about the books you buy or borrow, breaking into your home and conducting secret searches without telling you, and course the favorite of the police state, state executions.

Terrible image I grant you.

According to Blair he's gonna roll the ID card in with new passports and several peeps will have to show up in order to verify their existence. (sp)
The House of Lords think it should be payed for out of tax payers monies already collected.
Either which way there seems to be an Amurican company ready and able to do the work.

Now that's the scary part for me!!! o
This whole big brother type thread is what motivated me to recommend that book The Traveler. Scary stuff.
