Is this just another bruhaha, or can this kid really turn out to be the champion we've all longed for?

Why do we try to make champions out of someone after one good play (John Barnes) or one good game, or when they are young and talented?

Just let him do his job and cheer him when he does well. The last thing I would want if I was a professional sportsman is the whole country waiting for me to win.
But we're British, we have to build up hopes and then attack them when they don't live up to them. That's what we're so good at. -?

By the way, England will win the World Cup next year lol

Am Richard Branson is going to buy British Airways :D

It's not just us though, is it?

Isn't that what the MLS tried to do with Freddy Adu, who although a talented kid, has yet to prove himself worthy of "the new Pele".
The new Pele? That 12 yr old Brazillian kid man u were trying to sign, is way better. Adu is good, but he won't cut it in the EPL, the only reason he is making all that news over there, is because there aren't many decent players over there, the league is full of has beens from everywhere else in the world.
Has Joe Cole fulfilled his potential yet? What happened to Nigel Clough...thought he was supposed to be a star in the making.

The MLS was guilty over over hyping Freddie Adu right before he kicked a single ball in the MLS :D
There's those 2 prannies who do Pardon The Interruption on ESPN bitching and whining because Nowak didnt start him and it was quite clear why because he wasnt good enough. He put him on the bench and phased him in slowely, from what little Ive heard now Adu has got problems at DC, he's a young kid who's been reading a little too much into himselfand his prospects. I think he's got the chance of being a good player, but not a great just yet.
There is some talent in the MLS and some of it has been playing in europe but for the moment its a so-so league with some, not a whole lot of europeans/central/south/americans playing out their careers, but the americans are bringing in young local players. You might have thought in a country of this size the place would be teeming with talent!! But we all know the realities of that right??

There is also the whole issue about his real age, that pops up every now and then. Not bad for a kid that won a US lottery visa with his family from Ghana.

Freddy plays for my DC team and we have high hopes for him , but i think we are trying to bring him on to fast, he had a poor showing in the US youth team
