I thought they learnt a couple of things when they fought the VC. You can not just go to a place win the hill, withdraw, cuz 2 months latter they are all back again. So they just keep repeating it time and time again.
Same in Iraq. Go to the village, drive the bad guys out and then stay, don't just withdraw, cuz you will be doing it all again.
So bring the draft back and do it right, cuz they just don't have the troop numbers they need to do the job right.
What is "the job"?
Is it a valid business argument to pour more money into a failed project?
that's a pathetic "justification". And less of the "we". I am not a USC.
Again, is it a valid business decision to keep pouring resources into a failed project? is it a valid moral decision?
and do what right, exactly? Again -what is "the job"?
Which job?
Finding the Weapons Of Mass Destruction?
Remember them? "Before the inspectors were forced to leave Iraq, they concluded that Iraq could have produced 26,000 liters of anthrax. That is three times the amount Iraq had declared.
The Iraqi declaration also says nothing about the uncounted, unaccounted precursors from which Iraq could have produced up to 500 tons of mustard gas, sarin gas and VX nerve gas.
We also know that Iraq has tried to obtain high-strength aluminum tubes, which can be used to enrich uranium in centrifuges for a nuclear weapons program. The Iraqi regime is required by Resolution 1441 to report those attempts. Iraq, however, has failed to provide adequate information about the procurement and use of these tubes.
Most brazenly of all, the Iraqi declaration denies the existence of any prohibited weapons programs at all. " clicky goodness
Or the whole cakewalk thing? Flowers, sweetmeats, small children dancing in the streets?
Failing that, slap a 5-dollar yellow ribbon on your car and call everyone who disagrees with you a liberal and tell everyone who agrees with you how big of a traitor we are. Instead of a draft, how about trotting your happy booty down to the Recruiting Office and sign on the dotted line. We'll all have a whip-round and buy you some body armor - the kind that the poor bastards over there aren't getting.
Once again... with feeling directly from the mouth of Dubya...
"Right now, Iraq is expanding and improving facilities that were used for the production of biological weapons."
-- United Nations address, September 12, 2002
"Iraq has stockpiled biological and chemical weapons, and is rebuilding the facilities used to make more of those weapons."
"We have sources that tell us that Saddam Hussein recently authorized Iraqi field commanders to use chemical weapons -- the very weapons the dictator tells us he does not have."
-- Radio address, October 5, 2002
"The Iraqi regime . . . possesses and produces chemical and biological weapons. It is seeking nuclear weapons."
"We know that the regime has produced thousands of tons of chemical agents, including mustard gas, sarin nerve gas, VX nerve gas."
"We've also discovered through intelligence that Iraq has a growing fleet of manned and unmanned aerial vehicles that could be used to disperse chemical or biological weapons across broad areas. We're concerned that Iraq is exploring ways of using these UAVS for missions targeting the United States."
"The evidence indicates that Iraq is reconstituting its nuclear weapons program. Saddam Hussein has held numerous meetings with Iraqi nuclear scientists, a group he calls his 'nuclear mujahideen' -- his nuclear holy warriors. Satellite photographs reveal that Iraq is rebuilding facilities at sites that have been part of its nuclear program in the past. Iraq has attempted to purchase high-strength aluminum tubes and other equipment needed for gas centrifuges, which are used to enrich uranium for nuclear weapons."
-- Cincinnati, Ohio speech, October 7, 2002
"Our intelligence officials estimate that Saddam Hussein had the materials to produce as much as 500 tons of sarin, mustard and VX nerve agent."
-- State of the Union Address, January 28, 2003
"Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt that the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised."
-- Address to the nation, March 17, 2003.

But just sticking your head in the sand and saying ummmm I hope people won't notice us leaving via the back door. Is not going to fix the mistakes made.
WE have to put that right. Like it or not. Are we going to just dust down Saddam , give him a couple of cigars and say ooops sorry, carry on.
Saying we should not be there, guess what its toooo late, but not saying how to fix all this sh*t thats another.
We can all be against some countries foriegn policy, but once its done you need to know how to correct the error.. I see things happening in Africa but I don't really see to much happening about that. The world is not a pleasant place, but you cannot change it with a stroke of a brush.
Man is greedy and self centered and does not give a S*it about anyone else as long as he is ok. Me Ummm I cannot eat somewhere and see people begging for food. Have I done stuff about it. yes in my own small way. But do others do that no.
The fact we are going to write off Billions to the third world is good, but the other hand some greedy SOB will sell them arms which will put them again in debit. But also if you don't pay your house note or whatever over here or where ever the banks will be kicking you out. I don't see anyone coming to the help of those folks.
I just say if it needs fixing , fix it for all, but I know the worlds not perfect either as much as we would all like to see it, cuz if we see starving people on TV we will say how sad and just turn the channel over. I don.t see many people selling there house here and giving that money to help some poor soul that has nothing. No we have to get that bigger car, bigger house, burn more fuel, then have the cheek to tell some third world country not to do the same, but don't you dare tell us what we should be doing.
The worlds one hell of an unfair place.
