Portland, Oregon....at PIR
:)
Drop in on the way past - we're only about a mile and a half off I-5, an hour south of Portland.
what a crock of shit evil evil
It deos seem to be a little bit of a farce although you have to understand some of the Health & Safety aspects behind it.....still a very poor show though......
surely if a corner is too quick, then that's the best time to apply the brake pedal.
Hey P007, sorry i couldn't come and visit, I just didn't have time...
One from the races today...
It was very very warrrrm today..

An indy car and nascar track for F1? It just doesn't feel right, felt sorry for the english bloke that paid over 2k pounds to go see the race. roll I hope they take that race of the circuit
Nothing wrong with the circuit, been fine the last five times we went anyways! Plus the majority of the drivers have always applauded the circuit and have prefessed to enjoy racing there.
The problem was Michelin and not taking the right tyres, a problem most probably arising from the one tyre rule this year and not the circuit.
The race will probably 'not' go to that particular circuit again but it will be bacause the circuit will refuse to take the race after yesterdays debacle not because the FIA wont accept the circuit.
We dont know whether to go next year...probably not....was gobsmacked with disappointment yesterday sat there waiting like a dummy for a race that never was.

I couldn't believe it!!
I was watching SpeedTV and thought they did a good job with the build up to the race (extra shows on Friday and Saturday) and I was looking forwards to watching the F1 cars go around indy (the banked corner especially).
I think Manc has summed up the "race" and you can't really add anything.
Personally, I feel bad for anyone who made the trek all the way to Indy and was treated in this terrible manner. I went to the USGP in 2000 and the cost of the ticket was not the major expense... 600 miles each way and two nights hotel plus food were more money than the race! I am sure that the FIA are going to come down on the Michelin teams like a ton of bricks and fine them all sorts of sky-high fines. I think this money should then be split up and given to the fans who went.
In terms of the "blame game" which is bound to run for the next two weeks (at least), I really do think that the teams were between a rock and a hard place. What were they supposed to do? Limit their cars to a reduced speed around the banked corner? If so, what speed? 100 mph? 130 mph? And this, then, leads to the question of how safe is it for a car to be going around that corner at 130 mph when there are other cars going flat out around the same piece of road?
Again, personally, I lay the blame at the door of Michelin and the FIA. Michelin for turning up without a good enough tyre and the FIA for not being flexible and "doing what it takes" to get the race going. Why not build a chicane? Williams has said that they were prepared to race for no points, if only they could put a chicane in before the corner and then get the race going.
I am sure that all the people who went have a much better opinion than I do about who to hold acountable and what they should have done and what they should do now.
I am still shaking my head in disbelief.

Dont know whom to blame really.....if you look at each individuals reasoning it all makes some sort of sense.
As far as refunds, then I hold Michelin responsible as they were the ones that made the problem.
They owe us $600 in ticket and expense money plus $5000 each for the absolute feeling of dismay, disappointment and sadness when we sat there at Indy watching all those teams disappearing into their respective garages.
