What hell are these honours for these days? I mean there's CBEs and OBEs and host of other so-called honours. Most of them go to civil servants and other rich people with a few entertainers thrown in for appearance sake.

But what are they really for? Most of them were invented in Victorian era to reward the loyal empire administrators. What hell do we need them for these days?
It's a load of old bollocks really.

OK, maybe give knighthoods to those who are brave and have either rescued someone or done some other manly deed for Britain and leave it at that.
Seeing an MBE for a former QPR forward and another award for a former Leyton Orient manager, I can't help thinking they are dredging the bottom of the Thames for some of these...
Canada also has honour awards. I don't see anything wrong with someone recieving recognition for either a life devoted to service or for some deed.

There is really nothing like it. It IS an honour and they don't just give them out willy-nilly - although if they do, and you don't want yours, feel free to pass it to me D

Not ones based on some antiquated monarchal system. Anyway, they give them to all their mates in the civil service. That's not a "life devoted to service" that's life of cronyism and privilege.

Do you plan to return to the UK?

Honestly, you'd be welcome to my knighthood if I ever got one. I'm not one for awards and ceremonies. I can't even stand my own birthday....bag O' shite....humbug and all that.
