Hi people!
Like what I see so far on this site. D I've lived in Houston, TX off and on for 3 years but only recently got my EAD.
Like the guy in Love Actually, 'I was just on the wrong continent', but didn't realise that until I got here. Strange really as an athletic straight man (living in America's fattest city) I sometimes feel an oddity in Houston. My butt is apparently too cute for a straight man - been told this by a Houstonian lady. Even came across one or two chaps on the other bus who imagined that my cute educated accent and body shape must allude to my preferences in the biblical department! lol Erm... It doesn't by the way!
Over in Blighty I was a mere computer geek, homely and verging on idiot who went jogging on a sunny morning, but over here in Texas I'm perceived as being handsome, intellectually brilliant, and an athlete with ladies hanging on my every word. You think I'm kidding??? lol
My parents live in Stirlingshire and I miss them, can overcome most types of homesickness but not that one. I also miss fish suppers, the smell of the chippy wafting down the street, BBC 1, (BBC America is a pathetic joke in comparison!), Channel 4 (yes I was their viewer probably shut up shop since I left, poor dears!), Kebabs, Indian take-aways, bridies, Scottish pies, decent cup of tea (although I suspect it's the water here and not the tea), black puddings, potato scones. Hmm slight food trend here methinks! Wogan in the morning, cold breezes (believe it or not I miss that), being able to roll down my car window and have cold air come in instead of hot air, bank holiday telly, caravanning, clear Lemonade, pub lunches, Northern comedians, playing the bandits at the Moto services, the hills I can see from my parents windows!
