OK we have 7 years to get ready for it, but what would a current GB team look like?
Owen
Rooney
Lampard
Gerrard
Beckham
Joe Cole
Ashley Cole
Ferdinand/Campbell
Terry
...
Any right backs or goalkeepers that would get a shot from Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland?

You mean like a Scottish goalkeeper....? :D
Pretty much be the England team plus Ryan Giggs.
I'm not even sure Giggsy would make the first 11 these days, I am sure he would make the squad. Certainly wouldn't 7 years from now! Most of today's England team will still be playing in 2012. Take away maybe A.Cole and Ferdinand and that's a team for a couple of World Cup shots after Germany.
I was thinking the Man U Scot, the young midfielder whose name I forget, would be one to watch for 2012. The goalie who played in Minsk yesterday did well, but as the annoying Max Bretos suggested, he looks like he has lead feet. He makes the save but he's rooted to the ground! I don't think players like Savage and Bellamy could clean the boots of any of England's first 11, and Northern Ireland, well they need a desperate infusion of some Norman Whitesides.
I hate to say this about our fellow citizens but it is true. A splinter thread for this one could be Chicken or egg Did the end of the Home Nations tournament cause the Scots, Welsh and N.Irish to lose pace with England, or is that just a bloody good reason not to bring it back?
I forget exactly what it was I was reading.....I think an article in the mag four four two and it said something about goalies. That is, the best goalies don't look spectacular because they're always positioned well whereas the average goalies have to be spectacular alot to make the save that a better goalie would have read from the situation and been in a better position. SO if he makes the saves, maybe it says something.
I agree with that comment. I always thought Dominik Hasek's positioning was awful but he had the "slinky" to make up for it.
But the comment about Gordon's lead feet was one I have never heard before, about any good goalie. He's just unorthodox I guess.
