here is another example of the vicious, callous and vindictive racism that pervades almost all of this society.

A poor African American man stole a TV (black and white not colour) and received a life sentence. he has been in jail for 33 years and has been denied parole on numerous occasions.

So you might want to think before you move to anywhere below the Mason-Dixon line.

What a disgusting story.

child molesters get released all the time to offend again, as has been the case lately, where we live. Jessica Lumsford, Sarah Lunde.

and in the process assaulted an 86 year old woman :x how would you feel if that was YOUR grandmother, plus his behavior in jail has been far from exemplary, I have no sympathy for the man

God forgive the racist bigots who sentenced and kept him incarcerated for this length of time. What a tragedy and gross miscarriage of justice.
I believe he may be released later this year thanks to the publicity his case has received.

We're all entitled to our opinions and I respect yours, however this man was never charged with assault - he was charged soley for Second Degree Burglary; he has more than paid his dues to society.
As for his 'bad behaviour' in prison; long-term incarceration affects the emotional, psychological and physical well-being of inmates and, while that is not an excuse, it may offer an explanation for rebellious behaviour. Add resentment for unfair, unjust, racist treatment into the mix and it is no surprise he attempted to regain some degree of autonomy by rebelling against the system.

Sounds like if you two cases in front of you as a judge, and was the guy above, and the other was a white male paedophile ( majority are ), you will have let the latter go, long time ago

That happy go luck middle aged white man living beside you, could be a child molester with a lot of pcs on his hard drive like gary glitter. Black or white, I don't trust anybody, especially when kids are involved :o

What really makes me laugh, is when you see people coming out in public, saying he/they don't look like someone that will do that sort of thing, what exactly does that mean? Does that mean only people that look different in colour, or in other ways, actually do bad stuff?

8) Thats why there should be mandated Federal guidelines for locking individuals up, not state guidelines. This 3 strikes and your out stuff is stupied.
One thing here is, did he violate his parol?? alot of time they come out and if they break the law again they go back in to serve the remaining part of the prision term, plus add some on for the new crime. That may count for the 33 yrs.

No. He has been denied Parole on 26 succesive occasions because the Parole Commission cited nearly 50 infractions of prison rules during his incarceration. That isn't unusual in the corrections system; most long-term inmates average two rules infractions yearly.
It has cost the State of NC almost $1 million to keep this man incarcerated for 35 years........for stealing a TV. Ludicrous!

8) OOPs sorry parole was wrong wording. I meant probation. I know he would still have that hanging around his neck.

Does seem that putting people in the system here, is a money making business.
