Why have none of our buddies north of the border even mentioned this loon?

A Canadian pig farmer accused of being a serial killer faces a further 12 charges of murder.
Robert Pickton, who ran a pig farm in a Vancouver suburb, now stands accused of killing a total of 27 women.

The latest charges followed a painstaking and lengthy search of the land and farm buildings where the remains of 31 women have been found.

Most of the women 55-year-old Mr Pickton is accused of killing vanished over a period of 25 years.

Mad Pig Farmer
Why? Because it's old news.

Unfortunately these women were mostly prostitutes and unlike victims with caring families they were often not reported.
You'll hear much more about it when the trial begins. A LOT more.

There have been a lot of restrictions on what can be reported so that Pickton gets some sort of fair trial, but once that starts the press can report it all. In this respect Canada is more like Britain than the U.S

Some U.S tabloid shows have done exposes of Pickton and his alleged crimes, regardless as has a lot of the news media in Seattle.

It sounds really, really bad. If proven guilty he will definitely go down as this country's worst serial killer.
It is when you get people like that you wonder why your country hasn't got capital punishment. If he goes away to prison he will be serving maybe 1-2 years PER DEATH. Is your daughter's life worth 2 years in prison?

I generally disagree with the death penalty when used for a single murder (of a cop for example) but for people like this it is the only true justice IMO.
Ah....but if you are going to have capital punishment at all, it must be across board. I think most people say they are not for it, but if the tragedy is closer to home, they will be the 1st to say they want it straight away.

I mean look at countries that have this in place, you don't hear much about serial rapist and murderers and all that. In the tabloids in the uk, there was a story today of some nutter raping a 77yr old woman, that is just sick really

Here's a couple of more detailed articles about the case

One of the accusations that's been made in this case is that the Vancouver police treated the disappearance of misssing prostitutes with much less priority than they would have with other missing women, particularly considering there was a clear pattern of disappearances.

It took a long time for the police to arrest Pickton, even though there had been several pieces of real and anecdotal evidence pointing to his farm before. The families of the victims are understandably extremely upset that it took so long to investigate this case and lay charges.
I seem to remember Law & Order picked up on this story a while back for one of their shows.
Them lot pick up on everything. Recently, they did a terrorist attack thing
