Just a thumbs up to former punks or punk-wannabes or wish-they-were I just bought a brilliant new double cd called "teenage kicks", released this year on Virgin/EMI. Forty of the best including Madness, Adam and the Ants, Sham 69, Sex Pistols, The Jam and even Jilted John. Excellent. Highly recommended. D
I'll definitely check that out. My problem is that I have several good compilations already so the track listings often overlap. Makes downloading, where you can have what you want, all the more tempting.
Here it is

I do have a lot of these but that's a great track listing!!!!
I agree - that's why those MP3 players are such a great idea.

Here's a link so you can see what's on it: teeange kicks
Great minds think alike Lee ;)
Funnily enough, I have an double CD compilation of 70's and 80's punk/indie music called Teenage Kicks that contains about half those tracks roll

The new ones look great, will put it on my wish list.

Me too although mine is on tape as I copied it off a friend when it first came out (pre-burner days).

This is the one I have but on tape....

The Sound of the Suburbs

I bought it in the early 80's, I think.

Debs x :)

My brother used to manage The Members (the band that performed 'Sounds of the Suburbs'.) I was also a fan and used to hang out with them. The drummer Adrian Lillywhite used to live in my home town (Egham, where Ameriscot lives now) as did his more famous brother Steve. I went sixth form college with their sister.

Some versions of Sounds of the Suburbs have a recording made at Staines train station, one of those toffee-nosed female announcements "This train stops at....." etc. but British Rail threatened to sue and on their album they had to take it off.

...ooohhhhhhh... those are some killer tracks. Even Jilted John.

/makes me wish I could still pogo, spit at people and drink cider all night long. lol
//wish there was some Anti-Nowhere League on there
