Watched "Balseros" on Sunday which Netflix seemed to think I would like.

It's a sub-titled documentary about some Cubans who flee the country and head for the US on rafts.

It was done fairly well and showed them building their rafts, sailing away, getting picked up by the US Coastguard and then spending 18 months in Guantanamo Bay. I liked that it also covered them several years later - to see where they ended up and who was actually happy in the US.

The American treatment of the Cubans in Guantanamo Bay was quite exemplary in my opinion. I am not sure if they would still be treated this way now (I doubt it) but they were very well fed and the military authorities seemed firm but fair. I was surprised to see them all granted residency interviews and then given lottery numbers for entry to US.

The help and assistance they received in US would give Republicans kittens! I couldn't believe how much help they get (seemingly from Catholic Charities).

Anyway, definitely worth a watch if you think this sort of thing might interest you.
Sounds like a good movie, will like to see it ! Here are a few links
