I saw Snow Patrol and Embrace a few weeks back, they were both brilliant with the nod going to Embrace.
THe Doves were meant to play the next night but the tossers cancelled.
Am going to see Athlete in the begging of next month. I'll be interested in knowing how their gig went down. I have Tourist and Vechicles, they seem to have changed accents between CD's. roll
Currnetly Ipoding Razorlight and the Bees.
Colplay where in town last week?
Yep, they did a gig at Kool Haus (which is where Doves played and where Snow Patrol are playing tomorrow).
I'll be interested to see Athlete as well as I was surprised as well by their new album and how different it is from Vehicles. Currently downloading some early Snow Patrol stuff as well.
As for the Doves cancelling, I think the lead singer got a bad throat after Coachella so they've had to cut back on the number of gigs they did - that and scheduling issues (that's what the website says anyway)
Hey Clev......think you can send me a link to some site that displays all these british acts from back home playing here?
cheers geez
The Killers... (I know The Killers are from Vegas but they sound very Brit-inspired).
Saw them too. Brandon is a bit of a tool though. One of my girlfriends has a weird on-off relationship with the bass player.
/once again, my job rocks.
Asian Dub Foundation
Talvin Singh
Listening to a lot of Asian-inspired dub myself too. You ever try the Putamayo label? Lots of international groove / dub / techno type stuff on those.
/agreeing with Bungle on music? Whatever next?

The website for Kool Haus is http://www.theguvernment.com
As for listings, I generally find out through my roommate, through browsing on Ticketmaster or through Now and The Eye, the free magazines. Not sure there's a link as such listing them all.
Thanks for that dude, I see kasabian is playing on friday there as well. We ought to hook up sometime dude, so what do you do there in TO?
I still listen to Radio 1, particulary The Breezeblock with Mary Anne Hobbs and Fabio & Grooverider (particulary The 'Rider) and whatever takes me at the time.
I'm currently listening to..
Luke Vibert Lovers Acid (Planet Mu)
Plastikman Consumed (Novamute)

I gotta say the worst thing Ive listened to is The Streets, talk about the Emporers new Clothes.... roll
Hey Boards.....hope you are nowhere near the downtown buffalo eh, what happened to the place, it's looking nastier everyday. We usually pop over there, to get stuff from the outlet mall, and drive up to Rochester ( finger lakes ).

Aye - good label that. I'm good mates with a bunch of people from India/Pakistan/Bangladesh and they listen to the maddest stuff. There's also a radio station that plays out of Ontario that has this kinda stuff on all the time.
Speaking of which - how's about some genuine Tibetan monk chanting?

Hello 1989!
Jesus, Mick, I didn't think you were that old.
talking of oldies.
I just downloaded a bunch of deacon blue sessions tracks, demo's and live performances.
nothing like hearing dignity live from the Barrowlands in 1990.
Just to let you know that Athlete and Snow Patrol were awesome (sorry - it's catching!) last night. Athlete weren't on for long enough - only around half an hour - and the lead singer kept bloody talking instead of playing! Snow Patrol were good but played a pretty weird set. They played all their 'famous' stuff first from the Final Straw album then their less famous, earlier stuff last. One of the guys I was with reckons it was because the 'younguns' would have to leave early and would want to hear the stuff they know. Surprisingly, I think I preferred Athlete.
Talking of younguns, it was the most ridiculous set up I have ever seen. Two of the three bars were not open and the bar that was open was gated off and you had to show id to get anywhere near it. Then there was also only one way in and a separate way out of said gated area, and if you wanted to get back in (say, after going to the bathroom following several gallons of beer) then you had to walk through the many throngs of people and it took you about half an hour.
Manc - I got chatting to a guy there who was from Davenport (what are the chances) and was a big County fan; he practically bit my head off when I told him I was from Stockport but a Reds fan!
Off to see the Killers next week - my friend is probably DJing at their after-show party and if that's the case, then, I may have some Killers as my friends afterwards! wink

But I thought this was Canada arn't they a little more sane up there?
Downloaded both Athelete and Snow Patrol last night, first impression this morning on my way to work in the car, is wicked
