Welcome fellow American . )
The Draft Card is in the mail wink D
You poor bastard wink
Congratulations.
My son will be moving to Washington DC in July. The posting with the IMF is for at least 2 years.
There is every possibility he will become a permenant resident. If he does he may eventually add US citizen to his UK, Canadian citizenships.

One day we will all be World citizens. The US being the last holdout.

Can you really have 3 of them?
I didn't think so but I could be wrong.

Alright Keith, how is it going down there in Ottawa? Brother in-law is moving down there soon from kingston, to take up an officer role in the Navy.

you can have as many as you are entitled to where the countries involved permit it.

Technically you are supposed to surrender you UK citizenship when you naturalize in the US, but this isn't enforced and is routinely ignored.

In Britain you can have as many other citizenships as you like - a friend of my Brothers had British US and French by virtue of British and French Parents and being born in the US.

I've also come accross people with British, Irish and US passports (Irish people retain entitlement to British citizenship; and in London, someone with Irish (he was born there) Nigerian (one parent) and British (the other parent) passports.

What can I say.
As someone that has lived in Ottawa for 42 years, I believe say's something.
Apart from some pretty cold winters ( not much worse than TO) it's a very nice city. Easy to get around and enough entertainment and cultural activities for most people.
It's also just a 2 hour drive to Montreal which I prefer to TO.
